Dealer is going to give me more than what I paid for my 21 4X Premium on a 2022 GT/PE.

Plus I can still get the government rebate if I do it now.

Thoughts? Am I crazy for doing this now?

Edit - Dealer is giving me about $2k less than what I paid for it. I had the numbers wrong in my head.
Do it!!!! Had a 2022 Premium ER RWD bought in February and got the GTPE a few weeks ago. Telling you what...what a difference in performance and handling, the MagneRide is a dream. Got what I paid for it on the trade in. Was gonna sell it privately, but did not want to deal with the hassling and did try Carvana, carmax, Vroom, etc., but they are not offering what they did 3...6 months ago. That bubble as bursted on trade in value. Plus couple of them were like...uhhhhhhh your car is so new we can't give you a price or took a day or so to get a offfer back. Now it does depends on the market that you live in. So basically you lost on the taxes you paid on it for and your gonna get another 7,500 tax rebates. Do it!!

I actually find it odd why you even have to think about it. If you can get the GT at MSRP with a good trade in offer, You should grab it immediately. Even if for whatever reason you don't like it or feel spending too much on the car, you can sell it after your tax credit for another profit. I doubt the price will crash that fast. The tax credit is about to end too. All the GTs out there now have 10K markup. On a side note, trade in with the dealer can lower sales tax unless you are like me in NJ where EV pays no tax.

I loved our First Edition 6,300 miles and Dealer matched 'Driveway' offer of $59,900 so we did trade for the GTPE July 2nd. The Standard, Premium, GT and GTPE are all great vehicles for their respective price points. If you can afford the GTPE, do it, it's a great car.
As far as hurrying because of a bubble, really
no Bubble to Burst so don't let that hurry you. The supply is simply not there, it won't be for years. some time. Approximately 12-15 million vehicles are scrapped each year. (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vehicle_recycling)
Vehicles sold in the US was 12.9 Million in 2021 and will be lucky to hit 14.5M this year.
The US population and immigration growth along with scrapping rates their is still a supply problem in the US.

Dealer is giving me it at A/Z plan, no ADM. $72,975 sticker, $70,375 A/Z Plan.

Offered me $52k for my 19,000 mile Premium over the phone. I have $3k in PPF, so hoping I get a little more on the trade. Will be two $7,500 gov't rebates....
$52K is low. As an example, here is what our 12,200 mile ‘21 4X books out at on NADA. Also, Driveway offered $59,500 recently. The bubble has only deflated slightly on used ICE vehicles but on EVs it’s actually getting bigger.

I did this exactly (GT not GTPE). I love the basic bones of the MME but the GT with the chin spoiler, more HP was just an easy decision. The only thing that I would be curious of is whether the more bolstered seats created any concern. The GT seats are essentially the Premium seats with a different material. Getting in and out is fundamentally the same. I went from 4/21 build 2021 Premium 4Xe to 3/22 2022 GT. Having BlueCruise right off the bat 10K fewer miles and an extra year warranty for essentially at ultimately the same price was a no-brainer. The math original purchase $56K - $7.5K = $48.5 and Carmax paid $54K netting $5.5K. GT was $64K - 7.5K - $5.5K = $51K so I guess I paid $2.5 to upgrade.

Ingress/egress in the GT-PE is not a problem. I’ve been in much more constricting seats. My short, overweight sister (who doesn’t peruse this forum 😊🐩) has no problems with the passenger seat. It’s it like they’re capsule seats like in a DP.i or NASCAR Cup car. 🤷‍♂️🐩

You're 100% spot on. Doing the deal now. Ended up getting $53k for my 19,000 mile Premium (very happy)

Weird thing is it doesn't have active park assist. Chip shortage. $325 credit

Mine has 19,000 miles. Vroom offered $52k. Dealer gave me $53 and I get the tax savings. About a grand lower than what I paid for it 1.5 years ago plus I got the $7,500 rebate

I'm happy with that

I don't think that's bad. The used market is definitely starting to downturn, and you are making out like a bandit on the GTPE.

That’s all that matters in the end, I was just trying to show how high values still
are. We’re looking at doing what you did as well, except for an i4 M50.

Actually, EVs have increased recently. The MME has gone up about $2K in the last 6-8 weeks. Availability and gas prices are pushing EVs higher while most ICE have dropped a bit from their highs.

I did this in May, 2021 Premium to an identically spec’d 2022 GT, straight MSRP deal and a few thousand over what I paid for the 2021 Premium trade in.

Received working Blue Cruise, new wider tires, more HP, $8000 credits, and skipped the glass recalls. 😊 😊

The only benefit to wait is likely the 2023 model year and the risk is getting a reduced tax credit if you don’t get it delivered in time.

Driveway offered me $58K ($1K less than MSRP) on my three week old fully loaded Cyber Orange Premium AWD ER (less than 1K miles) but paid a friend $59K a month ago for a Premium RWD ER with 22K miles. Dealer has agreed to MSRP as the trade in value when I pick up my ordered GTPE this weekend so that’s a better deal because of the tax savings.

FYI Driveway tried to resell my friend’s MME for $62K at first but dropped it to $59K and it still has not sold.

I think considering the offers I have for my other cars - that dropped significantly in the past two months - there is definitely softening.

@Metal_Horses We all can't wait to see a driveway shot of your brand new below MSRP GTPE!

Come on man, the suspense is killing us! 🤣
I'm addicted to orange apparently

Thanks everyone for the input. The car is amazing!

I only charged my Premium to 80% daily, but with performance dropping off below 70% (as I understand it), I'm upping the daily charge to 85%. What's everyone else doing?
