Two-stage recall worth it?

Hi,

I just spoke with my local Ford folks. They have been calling me about recall 23S56. When I called back they said that I could bring it in next week for the reprogramming (which will take a half-day to a day) but the parts themselves are on backorder and they don't expect them for a few months.

Is it worth it to spend a day doing the reprogramming now and bring it back when the parts are in? Or can/shoud I wait until the parts come in and do it all at once?

Ditto. My understanding is that the programming should come AFTER the parts are replaced.

Looks that way according to the Tech Info attachment here. It's also in the full bulletin attachment in the same post. Text from that:

Reprogram the SOBDM and BECM using FDRS. These modules are coordinated with the PCM and may include other modules listed in the bulletin. Therefore, the PCM software should be selected as the primary module to install. NOTE: Integrated Diagnostic Software (IDS) cannot be used for programming on Mustang Mach-E vehicles

I wonder if the programming was changed or if those modules are reprogrammed anytime the the HVBJB is replaced? The recall on the NHTSA site did not mention reprogramming as part of the fix.

New software is not part of the current recall.

Dealers are supposed to update the software to make sure it’s the latest version in the rare case a vehicle somehow missed the previous recall powertrain software, and to make sure the software is compatible with the new HVBJB.

unfortunately the update is the first try for a cure to reduce contact wear/heat . we are just waiting on parts . we got the update awhile back
