Recently printed articles claim the Mach-e Premium 4x has better top end throttle response than the Mach-e GTPE. This is assumed because of the large disparity in reaching 115 mph. I think this might not be true if Unbridled Extend was applied, but I have no way to collect data. I'm hoping someone who has the GTPE and a draggy data collection device could shed some light on this. Better still a journalist could write an article about it.

This has been disproven several times. Unbridled Extend is for track use, as in race track, not drag strip. It actually inhibits the power even more so the battery can give more consistent power over a longer period of time. Extend will actually give you even slower 1/4 mile times

Unbridled Extend limits power to about 70% by design, that's really about all it does. Times have been compared before, here is a video where 1/4 times are compared.

Is Unbridled Extend (70% of GTPE) better performance than the 4X?

I see that the 0-60 times with Unbridled Extend are greater than 4s so I think it still is maybe a little quicker than the 4x. Based on the data in the graphs in the video the trap speed was still less.

I was wondering the same thing. I realize extended is for track not drag but I was curious if it was still faster than the 4x which the video data says it is by about half a second 0-60 (4.8). The difference being you can do it over and over in extend. Without it being in extend I think the one video that raced a porsche it was higher than 5 second after repeated 0-60 runs. The above video was getting 4.8 I believe on extended mode.

they need to add a launch/drag mode that turns the cooler on early if that is possible.

That might help some, but the cold plate isn't the problem. The heat sink from the cell to the cold plate is. The cells heat up fast and just don't have an adequate path to the cold plate. The cells don't provide as much power if they're cold.

Let’s just clarify a few data points from the C&D article.

It didn’t say the 4X has better “top end throttle response.”

It said the 4x 0-110mph time was 2.1 seconds faster than a GTPE.

Throttle response (punching the throttle) will be better at any speed in the GTPE due to the few seconds of boost.

But long periods of acceleration make the GTPE slower than a 4X when the boost runs out.

Basically, no matter if starting at 0 mph or 70 mph, the GTPE will initially be significantly faster…… then slightly slower.

It’ll be hard to see it in a draggy because the times won’t really reveal what’s happening.

The “slightly slower” part is absolutely absurd though and Ford needs to fix it.
