Go here and scroll down to July of 2022 and the "unnumbered" entry. That battery increase was delivered via OTA (or FDRS powertrain updates) back then.
Sometimes I think no two cars take the same journey through the OtA updates.

Looking back at my notes, I didn't receive any such update around then on my job-1. On the other hand, update 4.2.6, which I got much later in June '23, claimed to address recalls 22S41 & 22S29, the same ones listed in the unnumbered table entry. I also got Priority Update 23-PU0105-DC-CHG2 the same day.

(FWIW, the "updated charging curve" in the unnumbered entry doesn't necessarily mean more stored energy.)

I don't think my car's battery capacity has changed, FWIW.

Haven't seen this for a while, but can anyone fill me in on whether or if the extra 3 kWh will be unlocked for early Mach-E's? I have a '21 Job 2 and as far as I can tell, its still operating with an 88 kWh usable battery vs. a 91 kWh usable.
'unlocking' 3 kWhr gives you maybe 10 miles of range.... you should hope to never get that close to empty as it increases risk of permanent damage to cells if you actually hit 0 on any cell while under load creeping along. If that happens, you NEVER get that cell capacity back.

much much much better to stop at 1%, before you hit 'limp mode' and get a tow.

All Mach-E’s with current software have the 91 kWh update. That’s part of the BECM software several revisions ago.

Those of you checking kWh in Car Scanner need to make sure the battery is warmed up to 25°C to make comparisons since cold batteries have a lower kWh capacity. It’s 91 kWh @ 25°C for a new battery. Also factor in your battery health. So if you’re at 95% health that means 86 kWh @ 25C.

Even if it was available for use....do you think you would even notice it with the variability of weather/temperature? I too have a 2021 with 33K miles and still getting about 280 miles range on full charge (on non-EV tires). That is plenty for me.

I’ve frequently seen the GOM predict 300+ in the summer, even before the suspected update. That’s one of the reasons I don’t find it useful.
For a 4X? I had never seen the GOM north of 270. Until it went to 280 last fall. A 10 mile increase that correlates perfectly to an extra 3kWh. Could be coincidence - just not in my anecdotal experience.

No it was useable battery not a buffer.
The ER battery has 288 Ah total charge capacity. At a nominal voltage of 342 V, that is 98.7 kWh of total energy capacity.
as delivered, 2021 ER had 88 kWh of useable energy with the rest of the capacity used as buffers at the top and bottom of the battery charge, imposed by software on the vehicle.
The useable energy capacity was increased to 91 kWh by a software change to the buffers. So yes, it was a change (reduction) in the buffers, both at the top and bottom of SOC.

So I think I am agreeing with you ;)

I charge to 90%. I’ve seen as high as 280 @ 90%. That extrapolates to about 311 @ 100%. I know I’ve see over 300 a couple times when I charged to 100% for a road trip. I can’t remember the exact numbers.
Now, could I actually drive that far? Doubtful……
