So my car downloaded 3.6.1 several days ago and it will not install. I have tried scheduled times and on demand still nothing. I get a message that conditions have to be met and I have checked and everything is ready for update. Never had this problem before. Any trouble shooting tips or work arounds you guys can suggest? I would rather not have to update if that entailed a trip to the dealer. That’s a nightmare.

Also interest that it’s 3:30PM here in NY and when I call for a ford guide I get a recording that the office is closed and call back during normal business hours ?

Edit: It was due to a low 12V battery as several of you have suggested. After driving the car for about 45 minutes the update installed at its scheduled time. Thanks all.

Have you not driven it in a while? The 12v might be too low. Drive it or turn it on for 30 min. to an hour, should charge up the LVB to where it needs to be. Also make sure headlights are on Auto or off.

Mine updated to 3.6.1 last night in the Home Depot parking lot after a couple of DOWNLOAD FAILED errors.

Pulled in to a parking spot, SYNC displayed;

Update will start in

While your vehicle updates...

When I came back it gave me the Update Successful

/only 'improved' the -15C/5F heat

Had some weird stuff myself but I think I figured it out. You can tell it to update but then it wants you to turn off the car and it says "secure it" so I took that to mean lock it. So...I told it to update, I turned off the car, I got out, and then locked it...and bam it installed.

Before and after updating I also noticed all my icons were dithered and brown so I went to display settings and changed the theme from auto to dark and back to auto again and that fixed icons.

So I did get through to a Fordpass rep. Exactly as you said they were showing my 12V was low. Just took it for a drive and I’m waiting to see what happens. Thanks for the reply.

Yup, I was also going to suggest the 12V battery being low as the cause. It's best to drive the car, park it, accept the update, then leave the vehicle.

Same thing happened to me. 3.6.1 failed a few times, so I checked the battery status in the widget (12v). Took the car for a short drive up and down the driveway. Battery got to 15v, update applied.

Exactly what occurred for me. Drove the car for about 45 minutes yesterday and at 1:00AM (scheduled) the update installed. Thanks. By the way, my widget no longer works on my apple devices so I wasn't able to monitor the 12V.

My iPadOS widget no longer updates the status. Haven’t had an update to the widget tool in a long time as well. Is it dead? I really like it.

Ford has been making changes to their servers to crack down on abuse by 3rd party apps, so I believe the developer gave up on maintaining it. It's probably for the best since the widget can cause 12V battery drains and your Ford account to become locked out.

I haven't given up just waiting on an official method to move forward.
It's been suggested that it may cause battery drain but it's not true :|
