"UPDATE NOW" button

Checked for OTA updates yesterday. There were a few including the "contactor" one. Rather than schedule updates, I clicked Update Now. It warned me that MME would be unavailable for half an hour. Then said to turn MME off and "secure". Turned it off and came back a few hours later and apparently nothig had happened (same updates still available). Tried again before bedtime. Same thing this morning. What am I doing wrong? Is it the "securing" thing? Was I supposed to put out an anchor ;=) ?

Strange. I did this last night, and the only thing I did that you didn’t mention was lock the doors when I exited? The main screen then went to “Preparing Update” for a while, and then it changed to “Installing Update” with a progress bar. It took about 30 minutes.

Not sure I even remember how to lock the doors. It always texts me saying it did it for me. And since I turned the MME off, as instructed, I didn't try watching the display. Don't remember if it said "preparing updates" before telling me to turn it off & secure.
Will wait a while for any other responses before trying again.

Hopefully that’s a bit tongue in cheek, but if not:

1. use the lock button on the door before or after you exit. When you close the door it’ll lock.
2. Activate the pillar keypad then press 7/8 and 9/0 simultaneously.
3. FordPass
4. Fob.
5. Walk Away lock.

Usually I get the text that it's locked before I get to the Home Depot door. Will try to remember that. Usually I only use the pad when the MME refuses to recognize the PAAK, even thought it saw me coming and lit the fender lights.

You may not be doing anything wrong per se.....it might be that your car isn't ready to receive an update. There might be active DTCs or low battery charge or any number of other things that might not allow the OTA to execute.

Maybe you can try setting a schedule for overnight? That seems to work better IMO...

Thanx. I didn't recall seeing the Update Now button before. Too bad you can't check more than one day of the week. I would have checked them all for 2AM updates. Disappointed that FP doesn't tell me I have updates available, like it tells me the MME is walkaway locked.
At 12:15 I again tried Update Now, locked the door (mirrors folded). Watched from outside . . . PREPARING UPDATES. Then same Update description screen, then went out. Will check around 13:30 to see status.

You don’t have to use the pad on the door pillar. Place your finger for a moment on the little lock icon just above the open button.

Thanx. Old dog, new tricks. Or an extension of living in the woods where even the house doors only get locked at bedtime.
BTW, yesterday saw my first MME on the road. Look like same dark gray as mine.

Mine updated this morning after pushing the Update Now button and I did not lock the doors, that should not be required. It simply told me to turn the car off before it would start the update. Took a ride on my mountain bike and when I returned it had updated, less than an hour later.

You can set it for more days of the week in the current software version, but you’ll need to get an update first to get you to that version.

I have been getting the update notice in FP as well as in the car.

I don't mean to highjack the thread, but how do you get the text that the doors locked?

Not sure! Just looked at FordPass. Thought it might be in Notifications, but don't find anything like that.
Strangely, I clicked Map, and everything was in German. Didn't zoom to see where it was showing.
I'm sure someone else will chime in with the answer.
