Or just use the button on the interior door panel. 100% success for me so far, and it’s the procedure I have used with every car that has power door locks since the ‘60s. ??
I really should incorporate that routine, because the WAL is annoying at home. It's been so long since I had to bother remembering to lock the car right away I'm sure it'll be a tough habit to build.

Why should people bother to read the manual when there are the likes of us who have (in depth) to answer the stupid questions. I have no problem with helping people but when the answer is in black and white in the manual, that should be their first port of call.
Some folks aren’t used to electronic books. Yes, even yet. Others dislike them. But yeah, in the manual.

I think the calculus is different, for me at least. Most often if I have a question about the car it's while actually driving it, at which point I can't look it up anyway. By the time I get to my destination, the question has usually been bumped down to about #473 on my list of things to think about. At that point, it either falls out of my head completely (until driving and I see the same question again) or I remember it in the 30 seconds I have between one thing and another. I don't usually have the time or the inclination to go digging through the manual then, so I either table it (ie, forget all about it again) or occasionally post a question on the forum. The time it takes to research it myself rarely matches up with the opportunity and the desire, so outsourcing the research makes a lot more sense.

That said, I'm eternally grateful for those of you who have read the manual and are willing to respond. I know full well there will be a bit of RTFM snark, and I'm OK with that. If I have one criticism, though, it's that there are often opportunities for funny manual related snark that just get missed, and I hate to see a decent joke passed over for any reason.

It’s muscle memory for me since I’ve never stopped doing it. I bet if you start doing it again it’ll become a familiar routine quickly since you’ve done it on previous cars. ??
