2024 Mustang Mach-E Rally
Hi All! Just picked up a new-to-me 2024 MME Rally. I noticed some water spots and/or some stains or residue on the satin metallic trim that’s on the Rally (wheel arches, front grill and rear valence). Since it was at a dealership, maybe it got wet and left outside, or perhaps when they cleaned it, left certain chemicals on for too long - not sure.

But any suggestions for how to remedy? I gave it a thorough wash and detail, but the spotting remained. Photos of the issue below. Appreciate any help!

Try a little bit of carb cleaner, sprayed onto a paper towel and rub it on to a small spot of the fender extender. If that doesn't take it off , try using one of the tire wetting/black products over the whole extender. You may have to do the other 3 to match.

The Rally trim is NOT painted and not smooth like paint. I have water spots also on top of the spoiler, so far neither alcohol or Carpro eraser works to remove it. I also tried white vinegar and water.
I tried a clay mitt and that did not work either.

When I got mine, it had been on the dealer's lot for several months, exposed to the elements. They did wash it for me before I drove it home, but their water is pretty hard so it didn't look really great.

I have de-clorinated water at my house so I started with a hand wash/rinse/dry using microfiber towels. Next I took it to a detail shop and had them do their thing, finishing it with a Revivify coating.

Now when I wash it at home, my final rinse is with distilled water, then I hand dry it inside the garage. I don't have a water spot problem, but without all my water treatments at the house, and my water distiller, I probably would be.

Because of calcium in our well, I wash my car at a car wash and always hand dry it before I leave. That does bring up Barkeepers Friend for cleaning appliances of calcium in our house. If calcium is the problem of these spots, that may be worth a try. By the way, I have a 2025 Blue Rally that I ordered new. My car was full of mud when I got it and required extensive cleaning when I got it home.

Not saying it will work (BUT) WD40 has a lot of properties that are good for many things it's something most of us have around the house etc, so it might be worth a try?
