Finally getting around to posting about this. Been seeing this behavior for some months.

Had my Premium for a little more than a year. Used some BC at times, including HF, which has been pretty amazing, certainly more trustworthy than Elmo's.

However, even though I have LKA enabled in the settings, the indicators in the dashboard don't show up once I get at speed. Unless....

I see a notification that BC is available (on the route). I then press the button to start BC, then press again to stop BC. The LKA indicators now work.

Incidentally, if I miss that BC available notification and the notification goes away, when I press the BC button at any later time on the trip, I don't get BC, at least, not HF-capable BC.

I'm very confused about this behavior. Hopefully, my description is less confusing. Hopefully, someone might know what I'm talking about and have an answer.

Ford has cleared up some ambiguous terminology since the MachE was launched.
There should no longer be any references to blue cruise that isn’t hands free.
If you’re asked to keep hands on the wheel, that is lane keep assist, which has no subscription.
f you want the car to let you take your hands off the wheel, that is Blue Cruise and requires the subscription.

check the button on your steering wheel for lane keep assist.

Please define what button you mean by BC button exactly.

There is a SET cruise control button and a steering control button. Both must be enabled for lane centering to work. If you just want lane assist, then you can have cruise control disabled but the steering control still has to be turned on.

If you have lane assist turned on, you'll see the green parenthesis around the vehicle (X). If you enable cruise control, then it will switch to lane centering and then the blue bubble will appear around the car. If you're in a Blue Zone, then it will automatically go into hands-free mode.
