I don't use Android Auto because I don't know if there are any Apps I can cast from phone to center console that I would use while driving.... Mostly because I don't really know what's possible to display while driving?

Can it be used to display the CarScanner App ?
www pages ? ( like abetterrouteplanner.com, or plugshare.com, etc )

What CAN you display, and how can you request something get added ?

If I can't display anything I'd actually use while drive, can I change a setting on phone or MME so it will stop asking if I want to use Android Auto every time I plug in my phone to charge in the car while driving ?

The big one that most people like is the fact that you get Google maps and Waze.

Google assistant is also a huge one for me.

Most music streaming services also appear on there.

More than anything it just gives you the same kind of apps that you would use while you're driving on your phone, except in an easier less dangerous format than actually using your phone.

As a bonus if you use AAAD (Google it) you can get a web browser, YouTube, and even screen mirroring of your phone

ok, now I'm interested.....
I watched
and it looks not too hard to install AAAD, which looks like it has more apps that can run than what is available in regular AA.

I am not interested in streaming video, or music for now.... really just looking for:
- CarScanner display my customer dashboard on center console
- pulling up plugshare or ABRP to find a charger if I'm on a trip
- possibly displaying text/emails

- display a photo as a custom screensaver when car is on... i.e. displaying a camp mode or pet mode message like : car is on, A/C or heat is on so my dog is fine thank you.

- ...and I'd love a way to voice compose on a notepad.... I'm always needing to make a note as I'm driving, and would love to use voice compose.

ok, I downloaded and installed AAAD on phone
opened, downloaded, and installed AA Mirror
... started MME
opened AA
icon AAM shows up on AA screen.... tapping it does not seem to run anything, and my phone display does not mirror to center console.

what am I missing?

Been a while since I've used it, but if I recall you have to tap approve on your phone for it to capture your screen

Without taking any special steps, Android Auto pulls up Google Maps, text messages (with audible signal for new messages) and Spotify on the center console screen. Spotify gets its own little box that is always visible. When a new text comes in, AA requires touching the prompt arrow to read the message and asks if I want to record a reply and then send it. Not able to scroll my texts and compose freely nor can I access email - which is a good thing as it would be way too distracting!

I did not get an 'approve' request.
further research indicates that the latest version of android auto may have killed the AAMirror app, and 'downgrading' AA may be required.

I'm out of time for this issue at th moment, and will just put my phone in the phone holder next to the center console for now.

If any of the AA experts can post a procedure to install and use AAMirror reliably.... I'd love to see it!
