I've had this happen periodically, dunno why. I unplug from the car, then unplug charger from the wall. Wait 10 seconds and reverse. It'd be nice if the car's display would display some sort of a fault list.

It displays because the Ford Mobile Charger can't take the heat, i.e. daily usage, in warm climates, or even non-warm climates. It overheats. Many, many threads and posts on this.

If the orange light is on and the blue light is pulsating then it’s overheating and has reduced charging speed by 50%.

Come to think of it, I think I saw the over-heat indicator one summer day in my hot garage. Okay, then you'd think there'd be Legend sticker on the back of the charging brick indicating all these things.

It means: welcome to poor quality electronics sold to you by ford motor company! It took 4 months to get mine replaced. Overheats in the dead of winter! I got to the point where I couldn’t get it recharged overnight for work!

If you are experiencing the amber light situation on a regular/random basis you may have loose connections, either at the 14-50 receptacle and/or at the breaker in the electrical panel.
I believe the torque specs on the Hubbell 9450A is 75 lb-in.
The torque specs for the breaker in the electrical panel is typically on the inside of the door.
Also, if aluminum wire is used the connections should be re-torqued annually. (Copper should be as well, but not as critical as aluminum.)
Why is re-torqueing needed you are probably thinking?
When charging begins, the connections are at ambient temp. As the battery charges, everything in the circuit gets hot.
As the wire expands, the screw terminals loosen.
Also, code requires a 14-50 receptacle to be GFCI protected. However, since the Ford portable charger has GFCI built-in, or it's in the MME charging circuit, it won't work in a GFCI protected receptacle.
For this reason, EV chargers should be hardwired.
