What does the audio button do. The one below the sound button and above phone list. Nothing happens when pushed. Sometimes it highlights orange, but mostly not. Touching it does absolutely nothing

Moving the circle down decreases the volume in the front and increases it in the back. You might do this if you have kids in the back listening to children’s music. This is called the fade. You might move it forward if you have a baby in the back and don’t want your music to be as loud in the back as in the front.

Moving the circle to the left would increase the volume in the left speakers and decrease it in the right. This is called the balance. You might do this if your passenger is reading and you want to still listen to music.

Almost all cars have balance and fade, but those settings aren’t usually easy to find, because it might be behind a multiple physical button press in traditional vehicle interfaces.

The OP was about the "Audio" button not the "Sound" button which includes the fader.

It’s greyed out when you are using CarPlay and I assume Android Auto, because they are handling the audio.
