I have a Mach E premium on order and it suppose to be built early December. I have been seeing a lot of posts referencing PaaK and I have no idea what that is. I searched for it in the owners manual to no avail. So this may be a dumb questions....what the heck is it?

Phone As A Key, as stated. It allows your smart phone, along with FordPass (the app), to unlock your car as you approach it. Some folks on the forum have issues ranging from minor to serious with it. Others, such as myself, rarely have issues. The cars also come with 2 fobs now. There’s no requirement you actually setup or use PAAK.

Thanks, that helps!

^^^ This.
I have no use for PaaK but I did have to set it up in order to create a backup start code.
Since I have had my car....I have already changed phones at least once so now I have multiple PaaK profiles and I believe two different start codes. So, if you want to program a backup start code then you'll have to set up PaaK unfortunately. Maybe the newer cars allow the user to do that without PaaK? Maybe the OP can try it when they get their car and see if that is still a requirement? ?

Something that soaks up cpu resource on a phone, I've disabled it.

Ford has been in business for well over 100 years. When it comes to bad ideas, I don't think PaaK makes the top 100 list.

It’s not a bad idea, it’s just poorly implemented. IOS and Android have a built in car key function that would have been much more reliable if used with UWB and NFC as backup or for old phones.
The worst issue I’ve had was solved by unlocking the door with the app and placing the phone under the screen.
My only real problem is that if you see “no key detected” when exiting, the car won’t lock the doors automatically. Which kinda makes sense but still very annoying.

I see this is an old post and don’t know if it has been updated. My car doesn’t unlock as I approach it and the only place it locks itself is when it’s in my garage. I followed the instructions to set it up and get a backup key code.

Unlock on a approach is not something that the Mach-E does. It won't unlock until you press one of the door buttons.
