Lately I’ve noticed that when lifting off of the gas and coasting I can hear what I would consider a whining noise coming from the rear end of the car.

Anybody else notice this on their cars? Wondering if I should take it to the dealer or not

Have you noticed any differences if you switch between drive modes and change the regen rate?

I almost exclusively drive in unbridled, but I will check and see if whine changes with the drive mode

I'm (very unhelpfully) wondering if you know where your dog and or kids are...?

Normal. That is the sound the motor makes when consuming or harvesting energy.

Hey there! I can look into your Mach-E’s noise concerns on my end if you’d like. Will you send us a private message with your VIN and dealership info?

Whisper - Nothing
Engage - Can barely hear it
Unbridled - Very noticeable
Totally normal.
Whisper has zero (or very very little) regen which means no noise.
Engage has moderate regen which means light noise.
Unbridled has high regen which means louder noise.

If your vehicle is RWD only then the motor whine will be more noticeable since that motor is doing all the work. If you have AWD then it's less noticeable but still apparent. We have (2)two AWD MMEs and (1)one RWD MME in our family so I am familiar with the sound differences.
