Trying to solve for a smoother ride plus get an all weather tire (snow 5 months out of the year)

18x8 with a +42mm offset, 235/60 tires. Or can/should I go with a 245/55 tire?

I have crossclimate2 on stock wheels on my 21 premium awd. They are 245/50/19. Same circumference. They are great tires, but you will loose range. Mine are coming off for the summer tomorrow because of that. I really love how these tires improve the handling in all conditions. The rolling resistance is supposed to be better than the average tire, but it is not as good as a EV tire.

Gotcha - I'm guessing the 245 width had more to do with the range loss than the tread pattern?

I have a Jeep GC 4xe and noticed zero EV range difference swapping tires, but Jeeps aren't known for being engineered for efficiency.

Since the factory offset on the 18" wheels is 47.5mm, I'm worried the 42mm offset won't be sufficient for clearance.

18" x 7.0" J5 x 10847.5mm

So I switched to the Konig Oversteer 18", which has a +45mm offset, a few pounds lighter at 19.7 (vs 26.4 for the MSW wheel).

I would say that the increased tire width necessitated a lower operating pressure for optimal tread contact with the road and that contributed greatly to the loss of efficiency. ??

For what you’re going to do, the design of the wheels is going to impact your range on the highway more than the width of the tires since they are not as aerodynamically efficient as the stock wheels. ?‍♂?

I kept the same tire pressure. Not a tire expert, but I was told that higher pressure improves handling and mileage on an ICE car.

Your range might benefit from higher tire pressure due to lower rolling resistance. A flatter contact patch resulting from proper pressure will result in best handling because it’s working the entire width of the tire evenly rather than overloading the tire locally (too high overloads the middle of the tire, too low overloads the shoulders). Since the tire is part of the suspension, pressure can also be used to fine-tune how the car handles. ??
