Is anyone else having issues with the windshield? Took delivery in early December and within a month I have had 2 significant cracks, the second probably too long for the repair to last. The glass shop pointed out the windshield was European manufacture. Is that a different thickness?

I got a really loud wack from a rock while driving along the freeway at speed. My passenger and I were startled by the sound.

At home, looking at the impact point and cleaning away the impact dust, there were a couple of extremely tiny pits at the surface. I'm impressed at how the windshield took the blow.

My takeaway was to stay off the freeway unless there is no reasonable choice, and to avoid being near big riggs if I am on the freeway.

Most of the windshields nowadays crack pretty easy with rock impact. All my cars, different brands, they all crack pretty easy.

I may be on my 4th windshield in less than 2 years! I drove to the same job for 12 years and never had an issue with my Kia windshield. I have 2 chips right now and safelight hopefully will be able to repair. 2 others were too big and had to be replaced and the dealer broke one during a recall. The repairs with insurance are no longer free and with the replacements I carry a $250 deductible. I really wish Ford would do something about the strength of the glass. As Rick said, if you hear a rock hit, it is chipped! I will buy a dash cam to maybe be able to go after the construction vehicle company's in the future.
