I’ve not had my MMEGT over a winter and was wondering if you have any winter driving tips. I generally drive in Engaged 1P mode. This coming weekend I have a trip to make to Wenatchee and I’m confident no snow is in the forecast. However I will be doing winter festivities in Leavenworth this winter and such.

What are your experiences with winter driving conditions etc.

Thanks

I haven’t driven across Steven’s pass in the snow yet. But it was fine when it snowed the last couple years in the city.
I’m assuming you have all season tires.

Last time I went to Steven’s pass, I was driving our Explorer with Michelin Pilot All Season tires. Worked perfectly in snow, while a bunch of people had spun out, or got stuck, we went by just fine. In one occasion, we had to come to a complete stop because the road was blocked. I had to rock the car back and forth a couple of times to get moving again. I’m not sure if the MME will let us roll back a couple of inches while in drive. Obviously, without 1P and auto hold.

First suggestion is right from the manual - in snow, switch to Whisper mode. Least amount of throttle response to help keep spinning tires/torque under control.

Otherwise it's not a whole lot different from any other AWD car. I went through last winter in NY with the OE all-season tires and had no complaints. This year I'm switching to proper snow tires, but more because I have real summer tires on now and you can't drive those in the winter.

Do you one peddle. Or not to have a little more control?

I wasn’t sure about using one pedal, but it worked just fine. Since it’s using regen braking there is less chance of locking up the brakes.

Drive to spokane fairly frequently. I have had 0 issues. Other than the 15 car accident 2 years ago. Was 3 hours before I could get over to shoulder and drive back unplowed roads. 0 issues once able to move. As a side note had several folks call worried I would run out of battery. Battery dropped 3 or 4%. Had heat at 74, radio/movie on, wipers, etc. Other than irritated sitting for 2 hours and snow rest of way to spokane had 0 driving issues.

Great thank you!
This spring I drove Seattle to Missoula. Obviously different driving conditions but sure was fun!

Haven't figured out exactly why, but it is very fun to drive. Just did seattle to Phoenix and back. That with 0 planning. Plan was goto Phoenix stay a bit and come home. had 0 issues charging or finding chargers.
