For anyone who has lived through a northern winter with their MME how does it handle ice build up on the louvres and charging?

Normally when you plug in they open for a bit then close again.

What happens if they're iced up and won't open?

I’m not sure, but unlikely that it would need to open to cool the battery if it’s that cold.

This may sound odd but mine have never been iced that I know of. Of course it thaws out every night in a heated garage but I have never seen a build up during the day. Although I did kiss a snow berm parking once and then my collision alarms went crazy and I just had to unpack the snow.

I had a snowstorm once and the charging port door hinge had ice on it. I was able to open it partly and remove the ice. If it had more Ice then I could have struggled to open the charging port.

I haven't had a problem. They've iced over quite a bit, but I haven't noticed any issues with charging while they're iced.

This thread is discussing the plastic cooling louvers on the front of the vehicle.

Mine have never "iced" over but they have had slush/snow packed. I just wipe them clear. You'll know they need to be cleared because you'll get an alert that the front collision avoidance sensor is blocked. The "radar" for that is the flat part of the panel between the left/right louvres.
