Wireless App Projection

What is the value of this feature, it does not appear to be intuitive?

I had the same question.....

From the documentation it sounded like it could project whatever was displayed on your phone to the screen. But if it is really just the 'connection manager' for AndroidAuto or Carplay, then it is limited to just CERTAIN apps that are allowed to run when the vehicle is moving.

For all you AA and CarPlay people, is that correct?

Is there a list of Apps that CAN be cast to the big screen?

My top priority would be to cast my CarScanner App ODB2 display to the big screen with my customer dashboard of sensor displays I want to see while driving. As far as I can tell, this is not possible with AA, so I have my phone in a dashmount.....

Are you aware of any way to request addition of an App to the AndroidAuto library? Specifically I'd love to see CarScanner

from what I read somewhere the auto maker can limit what car play or AA show. They are concerned about giving up control or more date to Apple etc.

I believe the developer of the app would be the one to contact.

Specifically, this is the functionality that enables wireless Android Auto and CarPlay. You do not need to connect a USB cable unless you have an older phone that doesn't support the wireless mode.

This is true. You can confirm it by Making sure your Android Auto wireless setting is OFF. Turn OFF Wireless App Projection on your MME. Make sure your phone audio (music, YT, Panorama, etc) is not coming out of the car speakers. Then turn back on Android Auto wireless setting. When you select your phone thru the MME App screen you will immediately be greated by a screen asking to enable Wireless App Projection.
But for those who leave things alone as they are. How are you going to learn what it's for unless you ask and experiment. It's like saying; leave your tires alone as they are when you're getting low air warnings. You go and thinker with it, don't you!
I was hoping that WAP was to project YouTube on the screen while charging. ?
