wireless phone charging speed

What is the power output on the wireless phone charging pad?
Mine seems like charging a bare minimum, phone is saying it will take 12 hrs to charge up to 50%.
And one time, I put my phone with a 5% charge on it onto a charging mat, and it just drained completely in 20 mins.

Keep a cable in the vehicle for those 5% moments.

It's slow. To get the best performance, you will need to center your phone as best you can over the charge coil, and remove as much thickness as you can (no phone case, cut out the phone's profile from the MME's rubber phone tray). And yes, I know few people would choose to do those things versus just plugging in a cable, but that's the state of in-vehicle Qi charging right now.

Some people like to buy a nicer Qi charger and power it from the 12V accessory port or from USB. (Be aware, the USB port outputs also aren't terribly high wattage.)

BTW I'm using the wireless charge pad lately and it works well enough for my phone... But come spring time, I'll be back to plugging in because it gets too hot here in Phoenix to effectively use Qi charging. Wireless charging generates a lot more waste heat than charging via USB cable.

That is hard to believe, Tesla Y has 15-watt wireless phone charger which works great.

I think Tesla's plugs in via USB? Maybe you can get one and retrofit it to fit in your Mach-E. Or even easier would be to get a more compact one from Amazon or Best Buy or whatever. If you have an iPhone 12 or later, consider getting one that's MagSafe certified instead of Qi certified.

yeah, it seems like Ford has 5W or something (my phone has no cover). I understand you can retrofit anything, but that kind of thing should be in better shape for a 70K vehicle..
It renders it useless, basically.
