TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN 25-2058 12-Volt Battery Drain

25 February 2025

Model: Ford 2021-2023 Mustang Mach-E

Markets: Canada, USA

Issue: Some of the vehicles listed in the Model statement above may exhibit a 12-volt battery drain. This may be due to the software level of various modules such as the GWM, APIM and DSM.

Action: For vehicles that meet all of the criteria in the Issue and Model statements, follow the Service Procedure to reprogram the GWM, APIM and DSM modules.

My note: In addition, reading the details, the TCU and IPC will be updated as well, as necessary.

The issue is written somewhat ambiguously: vehicle "may exhibit a 12-volt battery drain". As determined by what? That may make it a little difficult to get a dealer to take this on.

My interpretation is this TSB should be applied when there are repeated "electrical system drain" messages in FordPass (that can't be explained by other means), or when the 12V battery repeatedly goes dead with no explanation (when a failed 12V battery was not the cause).

I believe this is the first TSB for the Mach-E that gives a reason to do the DSM update.

IPC is only included for 2021's.

There was a DSM update TSB or SSM before, years back...that if the seats and mirrors adjusted to a setting for a different profile than the driver currently in the seat, then the DSM update was supposed to fix that Sync profile/keyfob/PAAK mismatch.

But it's good to know that there's now another reason for updating a module that for many people just sat in their available list untouched for years, without an OTA being sent to update it as well.

I used to have the wrong profile load pretty much daily, but I've not had it once this year. I have had four updates since January, but I presume none of them were for the DSM... ??‍♂

Wow, this TSB gets published while my '21 in the shop for weeks with an unexplained battery drain issue.

3.2+ hours of labor to do these updates isn't going to be a fun bill to get my car back.

Thanks Ford!

I wonder why this is happening now. Some bad OTA updates putting the system in a bad state?

Hi

Would this apply to the New Zealand 2023 RWD model as I've had an issue with going to get in the car in the morning while plugged in overnight and not able to remove charging plug as 12v battery was low voltage according to fordpass so I fully charged 12v battery after getting access to it ?with my ctek charger and booked car in at the dealer and they tested the battery and couldn't find any issues with the battery or car software

Thanks

My car is scheduled for the 25-2049 TSB announced a couple days ago for the C/S of intermittent CarPlay issues. This TSB seems to partially overlap that one.

I'm struck that Ford is being a little stingy with providing these updates when there are cars on the road with lots of out-of-date programming.

Compare this with how GM is handling their Ultium vehicles. GM policy is a car is eligible for a complete software update when any other service is being performed or simply upon customer request.

This is a place where I wish Ford could be more like GM.

Ford Mustang Mach-E TSB 25-2058: 2021-2023 Mach-E 12V Battery Drain - is now TSB 26-2005 ddd

The Customer Satisfaction Program: 25B03 has them update the onboard charger module. This TSB has them update several things but not in the list is the charger module. This has them update the gateway, accessory interface, telematics, instrument panel, and driver seat modules.

Unless I’m misreading this (and I could be), this TSB is incredibly vague. No VINs specified. No offending software versions specified. Basically, if there is a drain detected, reprogram all the modules. But this doesn’t help everyone who already had to replace their dead 12vs just a few months out of warranty.

I don't think I'm experiencing any issues right now, but always been worried about that 12v battery issue. I have an extended warranty. Can I just schedule a service call to have them do this? Or do I need to experiencing symptoms before I can have them do these updates?

I’m very confident that you are experiencing issues. Remember you told us about all these intermittent issues you’ve been having that are hard to reproduce on demand but you know you’ve been having?
Tell dealer about them.
