Because Tesla makes their own adapter they have zero motivation to certify a competing product.

The Typhoon Pro is a solid piece of hardware and it works great (just used mine multiple times on a road trip that took me the full length of the province of British Columbia and back)

The UL standard has not been set yet. It will be UL2252 and none of the current adapters are certified at this point.

This adaptor is a quality piece and a bargain.

If I got my official adapter from Ford (I did), and my need for a Supercharger comes up a small handful of times per year, would I have any justifiable motivation to acquire one of these from A2Z?

Can anyone answer this? Is there an "emergency stop" switch on a Supercharger station? If the charge port, adapter, or NACS plug overheats or catchs fire, how can DC power be shut off?

Push the button by your charging door or stop on the charger

Likely the charger has a safety feature that would shut if off automatically too.

I'm interested in a specific safety feature on the Supercharger station which will disconnect DC power from a safe distance. In circumstances like fire, melting, or arcing, it could be unsafe or leathal to touch the vehicle.

I would recommend a Tesla to J-1772 adapter to go along with the Ford adapter you got.

You need a Tesla to J-1772 adapter to take advantage of the free/paid Tesla destination chargers.

Tesla destination chargers (level 2) are commonly found at popular hotels / airbnb / shopping centers and parking lots.

Go ahead and search for Tesla destination chargers on Tesla Find Us page to see where they are located.

I have found many of them to be very useful on my roadtrip and help me avoid expensive fast charging.

No, but the tesla level 2 that madtronics recommended is required kit if you travel with the car. I haven't had a chance to use mine other than a test at a friend's house, but a ton of hotels in towns around me that I regularly travel to have Tesla destination chargers but AFIAK I haven't seen a J17722.

I got the combo kit and found a 15 or 20% off coupon (the one at the top probably works too). A couple free hotel charges will pay that one off.

GM is apparently providing two different NACS adapters.
