Another EV-VIDA ambient light install

I’ve been wanting to do more lighting in the car. I tried one back when I went green but couldn’t get it sync so returned it. When I went purple the one I wanted wasn’t available. My wife got me one for my birthday last month but between vacations, spring yard work, and OT at work, I hadn’t had time to install it.
Today was the day. Not too hard to install. Did require splicing some wires and opening some harnesses. I love the look with door strips matching up to the dash strips. The new lights in the footwells. door pockets and under the console tray are much brighter than the OEM ambient lighting. And this kit put lights in the back seat which Ford had completely ignored. I can still change the color with the settings on the big screen but it will probably stay purple as long as the car stays purple.

Looks nice — for purple.

Full disclosure: I flew purple airplanes for 30 years. They made Southwest’s airplanes look stylish. I avoid all things purple now.

I used the ambient lighting kit from EV VIDA.
Tips? There is a very good step by step video linked in the description of the product. Makes it almost dummy proof, but only almost. I still messed up a couple things and had to redo them.

Hey Rod, I also installed their kit earlier this year. Replaced the OEM front door storage bin lighting with theirs. Added the cup holders, rear storage bins, under front seats for rear footwells, door latch handles in all four doors, glove box, etc. Only thing I didn't do were behind the speaker grills.

Best interior mod for sure not to mention working with Simon is always a pleasure.

Thanks Mark. I believe most things I do are overkill for your taste. ?
And Bill doesn’t like purple. ?
At least the other Mark gets me. ?

One thing I should mention Mark, is that our cars (mine and Rod's) don't actually look like that in person. Meaning, the color is not so bright and saturated. The camera picks it up like that so it kind of does look like overkill. It is actually much more subtle in person and of course you can dim the brightness way down if you want to.

Absolutely, Positively. FredEx did in The Color Purple for me. Even worse is purple and orange when together. Other than that though I like it.

The nice thing about that rig, though, is that purple isn't mandatory. Unlike this one, which made me wince and cry every time I either flew it or saw it.

Based on that history, I can empathize with your dislike of purple. At KSYR we frequently patronize the Millionair which is right next to FedEx. The newer paint jobs are not as revolting as the older one you posted. So I didn’t know about the old whole purple upper. You have my condolences.

The original FedEx paint job was designed for the Falcons back in the day. I wasn't there as I was sold to FedEx, along with the airplanes, routes, and several thousand other employees, for a bunch of money to a corporate raider, and a draft choice to be named later. The new paint jobs are far better, though, mostly because they left Southwest as the ugliest livery in the business.

Having just been in Mark's car last week, I can attest to what he says. In reality the look is far more subtle.
