Well, Crap!

I said goodbye to My 1st Edition the other day. A high school kid did an illegal U-turn in front of me. LeeLou is dead! I just found out she's "totaled." Valued at $45k.

I drove home 2 miles after the incident and (other than the red hood in the way of seeing the road) I couldn't tell I had been in an accident. It drove perfectly.

My Replacement Choices Are Not Good: I don't see that Ford has made significant progress toward fixing the GT issues list in plenty on this site, and the Ralley Edition is too far away to wait. I need a car now. Five drivers and two cars, is not going to work.

I will probably just get a used Bolt while I figure it out.... unless I get a better idea/option.

That’s bad. Glad it wasn’t worse.

Premium ERs are most likely available on lot. Same car without the badging of course. Neither a trade up or trade down though.

Wow! That’s the most damaged Mach-E I’ve seen so far. Glad you’re okay. Knowing what I know now, MY seems worthy of at least a test drive, unless you’re one of the “looks like an egg” crowd.

Wow, hope all involved are ok.

although looks bad doesn’t look like the car would be totaled.

if it is, I hope you come out ok financially , with these car devalued so much hope you get a fair shake from the insurance company

Wow, that does look like it was quite an impact. Glad everyone was ok.

Speaking from experience, you might want to look at either the Tesla Model Y (if you absolutely need the SUV body) or the Model 3 (if a sedan would work for you). The M3 handles better than the MY and from what I have been told has a little better ride quality. I thought I was "settling" with the Tesla, but after 6,000 miles now I am really impressed with it. You can read my impressions on it HERE.

Looking at the Tesla inventory page, there are several M3s available in the $45K - $50K range (including performance models) and a ton more MYs available in the $50K - $55K range. At these prices these cars are a steal for all that you get, including the Supercharger network.

You will see the cars in inventory are discounted already, but if you go the Tesla route, make sure you use a referral code before you enter the order/purchase. This will get you another $500 discount. Any Tesla owner can get you a code and I can give you one if you do not have one from a friend or family member (they will get Tesla points when you buy one using their code).

Sorry to see the pictures, but as I am sure you know, cars can be replaced where people cannot. Glad to hear everyone was able to walk away this time.

Ooohhhh, poor ‘Stangy?

Feel sure Ford has a software update for that, they seem to have one for every other physical fault & condition??‍♂

Glad you and your family are OK.

I have a 2021 GT and the HVBJB has not failed. It appears there have been more than one iteration of the new HVBJB, so if it does fail, I think the chances of a second failure are much, much lower. From what has been reported here, it is very rare for a newer GT to get SSN. Mostly the failures are SVS, which allows you to drive the car for days, perhaps weeks before getting it fixed.

Get what you want, and don't worry about the problems you read about here. The competition has problems also. No car company makes perfect cars.

Like all have said, glad there were no serious injuries. Amazing she shook off that hit and kept driving. Based on that, a little surprised it is a write off. Though all those sensors in the front of the car are probably kaput.

Personally, I'm hot and cold when it comes to Tesla. Overall, I like the cars. I like what they do for the BEV space and I am definitely excited about gaining access to the Supercharger network. I've just gotten so comfortable with the MME. If I had to get something else it might be an Ioniq 5. A lot would depend on folded seat cargo space.

Please do post a follow up with what you ultimately decide.

I’m not a Tesla fan for multiple reasons. I don’t need to beat my dead horse about that.

I’ve been really happy with my MME but she has fallen behind. Also the black trim around the wheels is not something I want to have to look at every time I get in and out of the car. I’d like to investigate a faster Ionic 5 n but that is even further down the trail than the Rally MME.

Did the airbags deploy?

No airbags deployed (see drove it home above). Bumped my head and knee a little but not any worse than I’ve done to myself falling while trail running.

I agree. Before stooping to the bolt, see if there are any premium AWD ERs around. You might get lucky since we are at a MY changeover.
