Hello World!
As you can see on my profile info, I signed up as a member to the forum on day 1 this year but this is my very first thread post. However, I’ve owned a 2022 MME GT for about a year and I’ve been a lurker here for much of that time. I very rarely sign up for anything online but the wealth of knowledge and engaging community compelled me to make it a New Year’s resolution to register for this one. Since then, I’ve quit the gym and headed back to the bar but at least I can say I kept one resolution. ;-)
With greetings done, I wanted to provide some “give back” to this community but with so much already covered I wasn’t sure what to contribute that would be new/different/interesting. Then, as I fired up my software tracking spreadsheet to record my latest update, it occurred to me that many MME owners question how often OTA updates can or do occur. Accordingly, I’m providing one humble example of what that might look like. As is painfully evident across this forum, every vehicle is unique with its OTA updates so this is by no means indicative of when or how often your specific vehicle should get updates. However, I thought a visual of the update cadence for my car over the past year would be interesting reference material.
The structure of my tracking spreadsheet is ripped directly from the GitHub repo “Ford Power-Up Version History”. Major kudos to @elmedico27 for providing us a running list of what’s out there so I know what to look for. I did add one column in my spreadsheet for size of each update’s download. I got those numbers from periodically signing up for a 72-hour license to PTS described by Fordtruckman2003 here and referencing the OTA Dashboard for my vehicle. To me, byte count is an interesting consideration when seeing the download symbol at the top of the console for days and weeks on end without anything happening. Unfortunately, that only goes back to the beginning of this year for my car so I can not see OTA details and sizes before that. Anyway, I hope you find this interesting.
