Hello World!

As you can see on my profile info, I signed up as a member to the forum on day 1 this year but this is my very first thread post. However, I’ve owned a 2022 MME GT for about a year and I’ve been a lurker here for much of that time. I very rarely sign up for anything online but the wealth of knowledge and engaging community compelled me to make it a New Year’s resolution to register for this one. Since then, I’ve quit the gym and headed back to the bar but at least I can say I kept one resolution. ;-)

With greetings done, I wanted to provide some “give back” to this community but with so much already covered I wasn’t sure what to contribute that would be new/different/interesting. Then, as I fired up my software tracking spreadsheet to record my latest update, it occurred to me that many MME owners question how often OTA updates can or do occur. Accordingly, I’m providing one humble example of what that might look like. As is painfully evident across this forum, every vehicle is unique with its OTA updates so this is by no means indicative of when or how often your specific vehicle should get updates. However, I thought a visual of the update cadence for my car over the past year would be interesting reference material.

The structure of my tracking spreadsheet is ripped directly from the GitHub repo “Ford Power-Up Version History”. Major kudos to @elmedico27 for providing us a running list of what’s out there so I know what to look for. I did add one column in my spreadsheet for size of each update’s download. I got those numbers from periodically signing up for a 72-hour license to PTS described by Fordtruckman2003 here and referencing the OTA Dashboard for my vehicle. To me, byte count is an interesting consideration when seeing the download symbol at the top of the console for days and weeks on end without anything happening. Unfortunately, that only goes back to the beginning of this year for my car so I can not see OTA details and sizes before that. Anyway, I hope you find this interesting.

So now that we got that out of the way... Is the Ford Power-Up Version History page at Gitmo public? Your spreadsheet it certainly cleaner. I doubt anyone would be upset if you tidied the page up a little bit with your data!

Thankfully not a super nerd, no statistical breakdown of mb per disclosed or by month, frequency of OTA’s. Then a 200 page PowerPoint analyzing it all ?.

Welcome to posting, and yes it’s a good addition to the sheet. The GitHub was useful to see what was coming.

I need a sensible resolution like go to the this year. Likely to be more successful!

Oh, no, I wouldn't go that crazy. I trimmed the 200 page PPT down to 97 pages ... only cause I stuffed the speaker notes. :). I'm sure it will come as no surprise when I say that there is way more detail behind that clip above. Since you comically mentioned breakdown per mb, here's a breakdown of the APIM module components in the 10.1.0 release that delivered BC 1.3:

If you have/use FDRS, both the files themselves, as well as the session log files record the filnames and sizes.

I suspected FDRS had that info but I haven't yet used it so thanks for the confirnation @Snakebitten. In my case, I got the file sizes, and the session log info, from the 72-hour subscription to PTS (Professional Technical Service) I mentioned in my original post. The screencaps I posted above are from a spreadsheet that I copied/pasted the PTS info to so I could reference it after the subscription expired.

Honestly, I couldn't tell ya. I'm mere motal and have no sway with Ford other than making my payment on time. ;-). I always have cruise/lane keeping on and in ready mode, even when not in use, so I guess I've assimilated into the borg and don't feel the pain that you do.
