Sounds great the only problem is it is a Tesla ;). Little too volatile for me. Appears to be ran by one of the USA's stable geniuses. Hard pass and lots of alternatives yet to come. How about testing a ioniq 5 N for us.

I have not changed my driving style and the 3rd HVJB is still hanging in there. First one did not last the first week. Not trying to blow it up but no turtle mode to date and it is still passing with the best of them.
I get it, and while I also have a very low opinion of Elon, I also do not judge a car based on who the CEO is of the company.

I judge a car based on the comfort, features, performance, convenience and value received for the price. Just looking at the cars, the Ioniq 5 N is almost $15,000 more than the new Model 3 Performance, it is slower 0-60 than the M3P, it is not as comfortable (to me) than the M3P, uses a regular 12v battery that has had numerous problems vs Tesla's 16v lithium ion battery (with better battery management from the HV system), and has only limited access to the Tesla supercharger network. There are several other advantages as well so to me it does not make sense to go with an inferior product just because Elon is the current CEO of the company.

I've been wondering if charging habits factor into HVBJB failures, specifically if the car is turned off prior to charging vs plugged in while on. As far as I can tell plugging in while on prevents cycling the contactors prior to charging. Cycling hot contactors could be more likely to cause failure due to thermally-induced mechanical distortion or something similar.

The contactors always open when charging is ended, correct? It'd be nice if they didn't for DCFC since obviously the car is going to imminently be driven.

One would hope that the Ford engineers would have figured it out by now... 🤔 ¡Ay Caramba!

I haven't really noticed a correlation, it's very random. If the contacts are warped, then it's going to fail eventually no matter what you do. Trying to prevent contactor cycles is just prolonging the inevitable.

Was... Hyundai is offering $16500/17500 in lease incentives this month and since my Ford Options is expiring next month.. I pulled the trigger and had one delivered and dropped off (at Publix since the giant truck hauler didn't fit in my HOA). It ended up being $5K more than a comparable M3P.

The regen is vicious... not sure this is the best daily lol. The ride definitely is stiffer than my previous 23 Ioniq 5 Limited AWD which felt like a boat. I suspect I probably should have gotten a BMW i4 M50 but I want to do a few track days and didn't want a sedan.

My HVBJB survived almost 3 years and I hope my ICCU does also lol.

Wow, That looks pretty awesome. Congratulations. That should be a blast on the track and if there is a 350 Kw charger nearby, 18 minutes to get from 10% to 80%!
