A bit of 'IF-THEN-ELSE' logic:

IF the latest iterations of the Mach-e have the 5 second WOT limit removed, and can be made to use even more juice with the $995 Performance Upgrade,

THEN something about the HVBJB must have been improved to handle all that extra power,

ELSE we would be hearing about a sharp increase in HVBJB failures if the old design was being used in new cars.

I haven't seen anything on this forum or elsewhere indicating a significant leap in fried junction boxes in the later cars. Just the usual amount of infant mortality.
If true, this would indicate that Ford does presently know how to design and fabricate a good HVBJB.

@Ford Motor Company when can I get mine?

Somewhat niche question but I guess this is the kind of place to ask it. Let me ask and see if anything useful comes back to share!

are you asking if Ford can get rid of the 5 Second Rule on 2021-2023 GTs for $995?

They should throw in the new 10-80% charge curve while they’re at it. ?

Yeah, that’s not happening. I gave up on hoping for something that Ford has very obviously tried to sweep under the rug. I got a 2024 GT. ?‍♂?

Thanks Brian. The improvements to the HVBJB over the past 4 years are a bit of a mystery. Hopefully you are able to share some details about what's been done to make it better. The community here would greatly appreciate I know.

You know, I thought about that. If it was a simple thing to just swap in a (hypothetically speaking) new 100% compatible, drop-in replacement, bulletproof Junction Box AND get rid of the 5 sec limit, that would be a thing of beauty. Some folks might even pay to do this to upgrade their older models, providing the rest of the car could handle it. There would be the requisite dropping of the battery pack to get to it and some software changes, but hey! Theoretically it's possible.
But as Brian stated above, it's a niche thing and probably not a viable thing for Ford to support.

Since 2024s have had failures, unless it was redesigned for the Rally edition, I still have little confidence that anything changed. Since usage, i.e. driving, is known to impact the HVBJB over time, I fully expect failures of replaced units in the coming years. Would love to hear why that's not a correct understanding.

My 2025 Rally failed with less than 600 miles on it. So apparently there's been little to no improvement. 😏

While there have been failures, the incidence of reports seems to be a lot less than with the first two versions (at least for the GT). I just kind of wish that @heisnuts still had an MME to beat on for us. 🤷‍♂️🐩

😂 I really do miss the MME, but I think even if I had a 2025 I would be going through HVBJBs faster than I go through tires. I am coming up on 35K on my Model 3 performance and am on my 3rd set of tires, second cabin filter and 2nd set of wipers. However, since delivery day it has never needed to go in for any warranty repairs and I have never had a failure to charge both at home and on the road. It really is the perfect car both as a daily driver and weekend toy out in the country. It certainly has taken the fun factor down a little on my C8 Corvette on the same roads out in the country.

Sounds great the only problem is it is a Tesla ;). Little too volatile for me. Appears to be ran by one of the USA's stable geniuses. Hard pass and lots of alternatives yet to come. How about testing a ioniq 5 N for us.

I have not changed my driving style and the 3rd HVJB is still hanging in there. First one did not last the first week. Not trying to blow it up but no turtle mode to date and it is still passing with the best of them.
