My wife and I just bought a black, hail damaged Rally with 9 miles on the odometer. It was a deal we couldn't pass up! Now for the hard part, getting our new car looking like new.
1. We assume that with the good signifiantly hail damaged the easiest path is to purchase either a salvage hood, after market new hood or Ford OEM hood. Any experience with any of the three options would be appreciated.
2. The roof is significantly hail damaged and an OEM roof is only about $250, so that seems to be an easy yes. Do you agree? Should we have it wrapped vs painted?
3. The doors and fenders have scattered damage that seems repairable. I've done a little DIY paint free dent repair. Is it worth having an expert do it given the number of panels impacted or should I attempt to fix the easy to reach ones and have the pros do the more challenging locations?

Any advice is welcome especially if you have gone through a hail damage repair or are a body shop pro. Thank you from Tampa, FL.

Or, you could continue the work the haul started and make your car really aerodynamic:

My kids loved Red Green. Watched every time they visited grandparents, since it was on in Canada and in Michigan you could pick it up.

@Ziskat, I suggest you have a PDR expert look at it, but I hope you got a huge discount. Maybe you should have taken it to one before buying?

Oof.

Pics of the damage?

I hope it was a VERY large discount. Long story short, the cost to repair is likely more than the diminished value or else the dealer would have just fixed it. Pretty sure hail damage is also a reportable event in your cars history report.

If this was a financial decision, the short answer is to either live with the damage or fix it on the cheap. The panels may be cheap to replace but a factory quality paint job is not.

DIY paint less dent repair will take forever but save you some money if you are good at it. A pro may charge you $5-10k depending on how bad it is. And keep in mind not all dents can be fixed depending on where they are.

Good luck!

Just so you know, I had a small dent on the fender of my 22 premium caused by an idiot kid riding his bike half asleep. It cost me $800 to PDR it, given the fender is aluminum. I’m sure you’ll get volume discount though.

Yeah…a $33K discount makes it all worth it…definitely seeking a PDR expert first

I suspect your car was one of the cars that got damaged in Texas. We had heard that was why there was a holdup of the 2025 cars, that had been ordered. Good luck on your project!

Find a painless dent repair guy.
Probably able to remove most of worst.
Some of them that are really good I swear it’s magic. Normally less than a body shop.

They sell hot glue dent removal kits on Amazon, I've had pretty good success with them. Worth a try first.

Agree, get a new hood and then try the hot glue pullers on the rest.
