I'm at my wits end. Purchased a new rally 3 weeks ago after my Mach e GT was hit by lightning. Car bricked itself 2 weeks ago in my work parking lot. The dealer states that as my brand new professionally wired in ChargePoint home charger is not Ford branded, they will not cover the warrantee. The car had not been on the charger for two days when it stopped itself. I know this is the dealer and not Ford, but I need talking points as they are not listening. I did mention that the Ford app takes you to charging stations that use ChargePoint chargers that are not Ford branded but they stated that if there was a problem after using one of those, the warrantee is voided. Help! By the way, the car was AWESOME for the 311 miles it worked

That sucks! (The Lightning).

Call the Ford BEV team to start a case.

Did the dealer give you the error codes? That may help with “why the car is bricked.”

Sorry Mach1E, you misunderstood my text. This is the replacement car for the one that was hit by lightning. Auto insurance covered that one not problem. This is about my home charger not being "Ford Branded"

Yes. The car will be covered, the charger has its own warranty.

Do you have more details on the error codes? Is the car sitting at the dealer? Did you have it towed?

Missing a lot of details here. How would the dealer know the charger killed your car?

Call Ford and ask for the BEV team.

Warranty is NOT voided as the dealer says. Period.

That is absurd. They can in no way force you to use a Ford branded charger at home. And as you said, the same thing could have happened while public charging at any station in or out of the Blue Oval Network. No charger should brick your car, Ford or otherwise.

I'll message you and get some details to see what I can do to help. I have already flagged the post with engineering.

Car is sitting at the dealer. Don't know the error codes although everything lit up on the dash. It was towed and was a real PIA to get it into neutral. The dealer(Colonial Ford) is 45 minutes away and my transaction paperwork is in the glove box. I was hoping to read where is states that I can only use a Ford branded charger to not void the warrantee on that paperwork

That’s ridiculous. That would be like voiding the warranty on an ICE vehicle because you didn’t use a Ford branded gas station. Do you have any other dealers near you?

A few dealers near me but they wanted the electric car to go back to the selling dealer

That is also ridiculous. When my 2021 had the HVBJB issue I took it to the dealer closest to work, not the dealer from whom I purchased it. Any Ford dealer who has EV certifications should be able to take your Ford car for warranty work. All of those dealers closer to you should get a talking to by Ford as well as the one where your car is now. 🤬🐩

On top of this, QMerit is providing new MME owners with an alternative 'non Ford' branded home charger as part of the power promise. Tell the dealer to suck it.
