UPDATE:
A2Z confirmed my NACS adapter from July 2024 was the first month production version and had a shorter comm pin.

A2Z said they sent out email messages for a replacement last year but I didn't get that email.

A2Z has shipped out the replacement version even after 1 year of warranty that expired 2 months ago!

I have been charging at V3 Tesla Superchargers for over 15 months as a Tesla subscriber.

Over the past months, I have stopped at 3 different V4 Tesla SC and NONE have worked.

All locations are approved by Tesla using the Tesla app for non Tesla EV (Chino, CA - Santa Ana, CA - Fresno, CA).

All charge sessions started with the Tesla app and when I failed, - even tried using Ford's BOCN plug and charge.

Everytime a red ring charge fault shows up.

End up having to find an older V3 SC.....

What is wrong - is it my vehicle, software (lack of), or just the Tesla V4 chargers ?

Anyone else having a similar issue ?

Is this something Ford can fix or Tesla ?

Yes, I am aware of that.

I always use the Tesla app to locate non Tesla EV locations.

Very strange that mine will not charge at any V4 location - even after trying different towers.

What adapter do you have? The V3 stations DO NOT have the official NACS plugs, they are the older Tesla proprietary plugs with shorter pins (only support 500V). When Tesla published the official NACS spec, there were longer connector pins to support higher currents and heat dissipation. V4 cabinets have the official longer connector plugs (support 1000V).

There have been some adapters that had shorter control pins that will not work on the official NACS connectors, I think the early A2Z connectors were ones with the issues, maybe the early Lectron's as well. I know one person that had to get a replacement adapter due to this issue. Many adapters were designed and tested prior to the official NACS spec being out.

I use the A2Z Typhoon Pro adapter exclusively at Tesla Superchargers.

Wonder if my first gen Typhoon Pro has the shorter control pins ???

I'm curious how easy vs difficult it is to call someone. There's nothing usually written on the screenless Chargers, there does not seem to be any phone number provided in the Tesla app. Has anyone had good luck with calling someone at Tesla support when a SuperCharger is misbehaving?

Per Tesla:

What do I do if I’m experiencing a problem while using a Supercharger? What do I do if I see a broken or inoperative Supercharger?
Superchargers are monitored closely and regularly serviced by our Tesla Service Technicians to address any technical issues as quickly as possible. If you identify a broken or inoperable Supercharger, use another Supercharger at the same location.
If you are experiencing problems with your charging cable, our do it yourself guides can provide insight on how to fix this quickly.
If you are experiencing an issue before or during a charging session at a Supercharger, you can report the issue from the Tesla app. To report an issue, follow these steps:
Open the Tesla app.
Select a location.
Find and select ‘Report an Issue.’
Select the category and include a photo.
Note: To access this feature, you must have Tesla app version 4.39.0 or later. Make sure you have the latest version of the app by updating the Tesla app on your mobile device.
Our team will review the issue and determine the next steps. Although our systems can detect issues that can affect charging performance, reports of onsite issues such as access, cleanliness or damage to charging stations will be investigated from the report.

AKA

You’re your probably not talking to anyone.

People do claim to have called the number on https://www.tesla.com/support/customer-support to report issues….i guess don’t have a problem charging on a Sunday through.

This was my issue exactly - shorter pin on the first gen Typhoon Pro, but I was able to successfully use the Ford adapter. I have since got the updated Typhoon Pro (replaced at no cost) and it works at Gen 4.

First gen "Typhoon", or "Typhoon Pro"? Have there really been multiple generations of the "Pro" adapter?

Same with my Typhoon Pro purchased a year ago: 8/2024. The replacement works fine. The problem was confusing since I was new to EVs, charging, and SuperCharging.

Sorry I was unclear, definitely not a second gen of the Pro, but an updated fixed version of it - one of the pins was too short to work with the Gen 4 Superchargers. To their credit, A2Z shipped me the updated version at no cost - all it took was a phone call.
