The Mach-E just stomped on the gas-powered Mustang.

In the third quarter of 2025, 20,177 Mustang Mach-Es were sold by Ford. During that same time period, which counted the three months that preceded September 30, Ford moved just 9,267 gas Mustang coupes and convertibles. That means the crossover outsold the muscle car by a margin of more than two-to-one. Ouch. To be fair, this isn't exactly unprecedented. The Mach-E actually beat out the gas Mustang ever so slightly in 2024, with Mach-E sales totaling 51,745 to the gas car's 47,215

I'm not angry about it. I don't care if people prefer to burn dinosaurs. I've been driving EVs for almost 10 years now and will never go back. To each his own, it's not a contest over "being right" to me, it's just a choice.

When I purchased my Mache it was like I quit drinking —even though I still own two foxbodies projects an rx7 project and a Subaru a cj7 and I’d love to do a hemi swap and rear wheel drive the wife’s old minivan. (She keeps asking me why I’m not getting rid of it) 🤫

It's funny, the Mustang and the Mach-E get compared in sales, yet on every car forum I'm a member, EV aficionados angrily state they'll NEVER go back to ICE; ICEV and EV are never cross-shopped.

So why does this statistic matter? Is it proof EV are better than ICEV? Or just a fact that the market prefers the SUV body style to a 2-door coupe, which essentially just a 2-seater.

Maybe Ford should rename its best-selling ICE vehicle the "Mustang F-150".

Lol.
Because of the “not a real mustang” crowd. That’s the only reason this matters.

Wonder what sales are like in Canada. We haven’t had an incentive since January. Picked mine up in April and Ford more than made up for the loss of the federal incentive.

Did they actually sell that many though?

Ford credit bought up all the remaining inventory in order to be able to get the $7500 credit for leases.

Are those “sales” included in these numbers?
