Admin warning of no politics is funny

It wasn't politics that caused Ford to cancel their multi-billion $ debacle.
It was Farley's incompetence.
I knew he was clueless when he took the F-150 on a press junket and it was literally the first time he drove a Ford EV and the entire thing was a disaster.
Then he tells everyone how much he enjoys driving his chinese made EV.
Back in the day you if you were a Ford employee you could not even park a non-Ford in the factory parking lot.
Then his solution to having the highest amount of recalls of any manufacturer ever is to inspect the vehicles in the parking lot of the factory. Instead of fixing the production issues on the assembly line that are causing the recalls.
Hopefully the @Ford Motor Company board will wake up and replace him with someone competent.

The Lighting is BEV
The 2027 Lightning is a BEV with a range extender.
Ford still builds BEV.
Ford still supports BEV.

I don’t see how Ford continuing to make newer and better full EV Lightnings would be “better” for resale value. I think discontinuing it will be significantly better.

Want a full EV Lightning? Have to buy a used one. That should keep values higher.

The official Ford account said on the Lightning forum that they will continue to support it for at least a decade.
Globally erev and plug in hybrids are declining while BEV sales are growing... so this is a US only strategy.

I do want US manufacturers to succeed .... and messaging matters. The messaging here is that Ford can't figure out BEVs...

....and wait for it.... an EREV is just a gas car with a more complicated power train.

...lastly stand by for some horrible Harshness and vibration numbers from these things.... the motor has to drone at a fairly high RPM to charge... all those people that don't like CVT cars droning are gonna hate these...

... the oracle has spoken ... o_O

Isn't Ford still claiming that they have new BEV vehicles in the US consumer pipeline?
If so, why is this Lightning halt viewed as Ford giving up on manufacturing EV's?

I would expect a new, full BEV pickup will be announced next, on the new BEV platform. Something scaled down a bit from the F150, for truck buyers who don't tow or haul heavy. I can't imagine Ford completely abandoning the BEV pickup segment.
I feel this as well, I would definitely like something that tows a most a smaller camper or pop up camper 1500lbs at most.

If you could recharge a Lightning from 10-80 in 18 minutes like a Kia/Hyundai/Lucid then towing/road tripping becomes less of a sticking point. Ford is getting left behind in tech. They will adapt or go the way of Palm when the iPhone came out, technology always moves forward. Never bet against technology, it is undefeated....
One of the problems, as I see it, is that charging locations are not set up for EVs with EV equipment in tow. You would take up an entire row of Tesla superchargers, and no way to use a hotel charger. Would mean dropping your tow. At least with an EREV, you can pull up to a pump, fill and go. This did just give me an idea....imagine EREV stations with high speed chargers while you are filling your generator tank.

Lightning BEV is dead. T3 is dead.

While I agree with Ford that making an EREV Lightning is a good idea, they should have kept the BEV alive. It would have been smartest to provide the full range of F-150s from gas to BEV.
I gotta imagine it’s easier to make an EREV Lightning into a BEV than an ICE F-150 into a Lightning.

If the demand, battery density, and economics align then I can imagine a BEV Lightning could re-emerge from the new F-150 platform someday.

Globally large pickup trucks almost don’t even exist. Here they are some of the highest volume cars.

For sure this is a US strategy.

$$ PRICE - PAYLOAD - TOWING CAPACITY

Sorry to interrupt the discussion about global warming, cafe standards, politics, charging infrastructure, public opinion, EV adoption, tax subsidies and Ford finances but, does anyone have the slightest idea or interest in what really matters about this new truck?

This is what I want to know in the best order I can come up with but please feel free to correct me about what I am asking. I want to know when will the new Lightning be available to purchase, price, payload capacity, towing capacity. battery size, battery only range, trim levels etc. etc. etc., does anyone have this information or a link to this info?
The answer to all three questions will be:

A crap ton

I'm imagining that the chargers would go unused.

Contrary to what some may believe, there is no immediate or long term planetary threat to ongoing use of fossil fuels.
I wanted to point out that the AI program you are using is hallucinating. Just fyi. Makes you look like you actually believe that nonsense.

Perhaps they should refer to it as the Ford F-150 Storm, with the Lightning Battery and the Thunder Generator.

I bet this actually helps resale values.

Best thing that happened to my 2015 Chevy SS was them discontinuing it.

Bought it brand new in 2016 for $36k and sold it for $45k in 2021.
I think that was more of a function of Covid than GM discontinuing the model.

This thread is comprised of arguments about Ford's business decisions. Who the "F" cares? Just buy what you want and stop trying to be an armchair CEO. Nobody here knows the detailed financial situation inside Ford, and what they need to do to pay the bills.

If Ford cannot make a profit, i.e. "pay the bills", they cannot keep building vehicles. I guess if some stupid politician deems them "too big to fail" their stupid decisions will be covered by the taxpayer. I happen to be a taxpayer, so I definitely don't want a corrupt politician to take my earnings to cover bad decisions made by Ford.

And coincidentally, Ford was the only US automobile manufacturer who didn't take the corrupt Federal Government handout the last time. Maybe because they made better business decisions?

Reacting to the market it critical. Sticking to a dogmatic religious belief about what you need to produce will lead to complete failure. Ford seems to know this. Meanwhile, GM, who was bailed out last time by the corrupt administration, is not showing any signs of adapting to the market.

And the market should matter. What free people want to purchase should matter. And apparently it does matter to Ford. I think that is a good thing. I wish all our "too big to fail" industries would be that responsible with their businesses.

"Too big to fail" should not even be a thing.
