It must be early days...this hasn't even hit the PTS/OASIS system yet. No mention of 25C69.
Confirming this is coming. I will share more info on this thread when it's available to me.

This article says it's 2024-2026 Mustang Mach-Es, but then says:
The recall includes 80,468 Maverick hybrids, 104,113 Lightning EVs, and 88,064 Mustang Mach-E models.

Did they really sell almost 90k 24-26 model year Mach-Es?
They built that many!

I experienced a rollaway in April 2024 on my then new 2023 MY MME in a ski resort on a moderately inclined road...
My car was barely 3 months new in my hands.

Probably luckily, I was inside the car, and for the life of me I could not understand why the car had rolled off while off and in park.
It did cause minor damage to my car and the truck behind me, which I have documented and still have on my car. I had to pay the other person off to avoid an insurance claim.

The assertion that there have been no accidents reported as a result of this might be very generous and I'm prepared to escalate this report to the NTSB if necessary.

Again, I never reported it to Ford because I didn't think that it was possible for the car to rollaway like that... I would like my costs recouped and the damage to my car fixed on Ford's dime.

When calling Ford at (866)436-7332 today, recall 25C69 does not seem to be searchable despite being known for at least a few days now. So I'm not able to get through to a human.

And the recall is for 2024-2025 MY MME's but I'm fairly sure that this is what happened to my 2023 MY.

@Ford Motor Company?

Would somebody explain to me this insurance claim avoidance behavior? We have no fault in MA and insurance is required. How do you math out if to avoid a claim or not without knowing how much the insurance co will penalize the policy holder. Any insurance people here that can explain?

Good thing Ford got rid of that annoying parking pawl in the drive unit
Are you joking here or is this a real statement? I own a 2025 with the 3 on the tree shifter. My assumption is the shifter button is the parking pawl. And the lever in the center console the parking brake. Am I wrong?

Hmmm, isn't a failing Parking Brake pretty much a Parking Break? 🤔
😂😂😂😂😂

That's why you were given a perfectly good, functional language so you can distinguish between brake and break but you broke it

😂😂😂😂😂

Interesting also that it is referred to, as manufacturers do to distinguish this sort of thing from a brake failure, as a park “function”🤷🏼‍♂️

Yes, you are wrong. There is no parking pawl as of model year 2022.

"Similarly, Ford plans to eliminate the automatic-transmission parking pawl that currently holds the Mach-E in Park, allowing an electronic parking brake to take over that job. Ford initially used the pawl because of its familiarity, but the part can now be eliminated, saving cost and weight, she said."

Ok, that’s what I thought I read originally, but I stupidly just used AI which came up with a part number for 21-25 parking pawl. From OEMPartsOnline

I wonder if it was reintroduced with 2024 since they used the motor from the Lightning which has a parking pawl? And the 2024+ is included in this recall along with the Lightning.

I know that my 2025 does not engage the parking brake every time I park.

Because I'm curious about the 2025's, maybe try driving 1 MPH and then throw it in park (that slow won't hurt anything). Mine will definitely bounce off the park pawl before the parking brake engages.

@RickMachE Ford said they were going to eliminate the park pawl, but I'm not sure if they actually did. I think they kept it for redundancy reasons, rollaway accidents are a serious liability concern for their lawyers.

If I'm reading between the lines correctly, this rollaway issue could happen if the park pawl mechanism gets stuck (doesn't engage) AND the driver manually disengages the electronic parking brake or there is another fault in the software which prevents automatic EPB application. Normally both the park pawl and the EPB engages when you shift into park (it won't show in the cluster, but you can hear it).

I had a 2000 Mazda Miata a long time ago. The parking brake cable broke, and until I had it fixed, I had a “parking rock” in the passenger footwell. I’d park the car with the gear selector in reverse (it was a manual, of course), and place the parking rock in front of one of the front vehicles.

Maybe @Ford Motor Company should give everyone a rock that they can use as a dual-purpose tool: emergency parking brake backup AND emergency egress tool in case the electric doors fail 😀😀😀

I believe I saw a post on Reddit (I know, it is a lot of negative vibes there) that some Norwegian 2023-model decided to roll down some hill after being parked for the night. I can see if I can find it again.

Edit: found source. No model year details, so that must be my imagination, sorry. https://www.reddit.com/r/MachE/s/X0qmDSZOBZ
