I took my car into my local dealership this morning for the 30K checkup. Even though I had an appointment with service center they said the Quick Lube department handle the inspections so I had to wait in line there.
I watched them do the inspection which consisted of filling up washer fluid and airing up the tires. I am sure they also connected up to computer but since the tires are only a couple months old no rotation needed.
all is good and they give me the report and on it they say there is wear on front brakes nothing serious just more wear on front than rear.
how do you measure pad life/usage with the wheels on.

You would stick this between the rotor and pad through the wheel hole.

At 30K why would you even worry about brake wear? At 130K maybe, but considering that this is an EV, you might not even see any appreciable wear then.

Not worried it was more a question on how they could measure usage without taking wheel off

I'd only mess with the pads if they're getting stuck to the rotors or if tossing it in N coming off the freeway and using the brakes shook the crap out of the steering wheel. The 21's got the worst end of the pad deal.
In other news I installed carbon ceramic pads ~ 20k ago and have no problems at all with them.

Saying fronts wear faster than rears is like saying that earth is not flat. No checks required.

There;s a wear indicator that makes an awful noise when your pads are worn.
