Saw this on a dealer web site and thought it was interesting. A lot going on there with the heat pump and all. The battery is right in the open.

I was thinking about all those folks that cut holes in their covers to access the battery. I haven't done that, come to think about it, I haven't opened the frunk in about 9 months.

Used to carry all those things I had to have with me but seldom use such as Milwaukee tyre inflator, gallon petrol & diesel, water, polishes, lubricants, defibrillator, first aid kit, tyre repair kits, and, and, and……..

And they probably have that data and know we do not ever open the frunk. Thus the easy money grab.

If $500 makes the frunk easy to open (like tailgate) and gives easy access to 12V battery, I might go for it.

Interesting to see the heat pump. Is this Mach-E missing the strut tower brace, or did Ford decontent that as well?

Just like an ICE vehicle now, when you lift the hood....🙃

Given the frunk has been reduced to basically a cubby, I think the move to make it optional was sound. If I were buying it today, I would not choose it. I'd rather have easy access to everything, vs a useless cubby.

You don't think about it. Until you're outside after midnight in freezing cold weather in a dimly lit airport garage with a sick kid and you just want to go home but the 12v decided to off itself and you're stuck trying to remove panels and locate lost clips in the dark.

Ask me how I know this

Yes it's missing the strut tower brace and the studs that come up out of the body to mount the brace aren't there either.
