OR....
Learn to keep the car on until wifey has exited...
OR....
Do the switch mod, it becomes active WHEN wifey opens the door! 😁
"use the car differently than you have used cars your whole life" or "mod your car because they designed it poorly"

Great answers. lol

So you've had an icon on your center touchscreen to open the powered rear liftgate on every car you've ever owned?

I don't know you but I think you are smarter than that. Or you really love a strawman and a reason to use a Mr Bean image.

I've always had a readily available button to press to open the trunk/liftgate that didn't stop working when I turned the car off and opened the door.

You have no idea as to my intelligence, so, please do not presume.

My suggestions were only meant as light banter (although workable).

I'm used to a button as well, so I added one.

This is like Dell removing the escape button but giving you a settings button that you can open an on screen menu to then press the escape button. It only wastes 5 seconds! Why so much complain?

Don't need a physical button. Just a straightforward way to access the trunk/frunk. I don't need a max defrost digital button and physical button but they thought I should have two! (Another pet peeve, I can't turn off the HVAC without opening a menu. I can't turn off dual control without opening the slow menu. Which btw, futzing with HVAC controls is technically distracted driving in Michigan. IF you get in an accident turning off the HVAC while you wait for the menu to pop up you'll be liable).

I'm sorry, there's no defending the UX decisions on this car. They aren't as bad as some others but they are definitely not optimal.

If they split that Max defrost physical button into a frunk and trunk button then there would be no one complaining about anything. This is specifically why it isn't a religious debate. There were better solutions they could have done. Period.
There’s a feedback button on the sync screen. Express your displeasure directly to Ford. They actually listen to it. Talk fast or make multiple reports.

As for yet another button on the top ribbon, no. Just no. The latest sync update has yet another button up there. Believe it or not, there are a lot of people who think Ford got the button/software balance just right. Many of us don't need nor want another physical button. We either tap the soft button before shutting down and opening a door, or press the button on the trunk.

The more trunk button impaired people complain, the closer and closer and closer I get to wanting an empty, blank Ui. I’d settle for the original UI, though, where all such things were buried 3 menus deep.

Or you could just do the mod that many have done since 2021.

As a Job 1 2021 owner I been on this forum from the beginning having a button on the top of the screen for the liftgate has been requested thousands of times. I would say maybe the most requested feature from the beginning. Instead, Ford adds a phone button that I never seen a request for in the 5 years I owned the Mach-e. Either it's not possible (doubt it) or they just do not listen to customer feedback and add things they want not what we want. Oh well I love the car but jeez come on.

Easy, and has already been suggested: user customizable top row of buttons. The existing UI is not the only way.

So you think a Max defrost button on the screen AND the physical button is "just right"?

I’m sure you know this already … but … how about you just do the mod where you change that max defrost button to a frunk button ? Then you’ll have one less thing to complain about !

How fast is this Sync update rolling out? Do you think I’ll get it before Christmas? Does Ford still use an intern to type VIN numbers into the OTA database, or has that process been automated now ?

Or should I try the dance with the virgins and the blue candles again? That seemed to work to invoke the spirits that finally brought the BlueCruise update.

You have absolutely no idea what you’re asking. Typical.

Yes, not only appropriate but safe. Certain functions need to be available outside the sync screen in the event of a sync screen failure. Not being able to see outside is a bad thing.

Since I don't know what most of that means with my iPhone, I'll assume you are using an Android phone. I'm sorry for your difficulty.
I have an iPhone. I'm on my 2nd one since owning the car, both would regularly background close FordPass, and I haven't been able to find any setting that keeps it from happening. I mostly carry a fob now, partly because I got sick of having to unlock my phone to check if FordPass was still running every time I wanted to unlock the car. Digging the fob out of my jeans pocket means I can't open the hatch while still sitting in the car after I've turned it off and a door was opened, which is my goal.

I'm glad the car works for your use case. But, just because you're happy with it, doesn't mean that everyone else is. I'm mostly driving without passengers during the week, and it's fine. But when I do have passengers, I only remember to open the hatch before turning off the car about half the time.
The end of the world, absolutely not., but it is frustrating when it does happen.

Yes, I should probably do the button mod, and I'd be happier, but I'd rather do about 100 other things in my spare time. It was a very strange choice for Ford to put a Max Defrost physical button there, that you will never ever need when the car is off when there is also a button on the screen to do that. And, the Max Defrost button on the screen doesn't require opening another screen first.
