yesterday i tried turning off a/c. When i went in the climate a/c was already toggled, off but still a/c was on. Thought i would just turn e-heat off and turn the heat way up that just closed all the vents, could hear fan but no air comeing from any vents. Not sure what i could be doing wrong that it is overriding the a/c off. Any one else have that issue? Or anyone have an idea what i could be doing wrong.

I believe the A/C compressor will run with the defroster turned on. Could that be causing your symptom?

Turning off the A/C via the climate screen should do it. Sometimes, if you have Auto turned on it might re-enable the compressor. To ensure it doesn't do that.....try selecting manual fan speed. That has the effect of taking the system out of automatic mode.

Some others here might have a few other suggestions as well.....

The AC compressor will run in a bunch of situations. To be honest, it isn't a big deal. The AC takes such little energy compared to heater. The only time the AC truly takes a lot of energy is when it is really hot and it is cooling the cabin down. Once it is cool it is a relatively low draw.

I've noticed even with the heat on it runs the AC and this is likely to keep the windows from fogging up.

If you want the least chance of running the compressor, set it to face, with ac off. In auto mode it likely runs a little defrost and may run the compressor to keep the window de-fogged. Under a certain temperature it will generally turn off.

Either that or this car does have a heat pump they're not telling us about ;)

I usually hit that fan button and manually set it to off. Annoying. Hit button, increase fan speed manually so off position populates, slide off. Would like it if I could just hit fan, off.

Also tried " ok ford, turn off the AC".and "ok ford, turn off the fan" nope. Only through manual control can you adjust such..

Couldn't you just hit the HVAC system power button in the top right to turn the fan off? Thats what I do.

Now I have to look for said button on top right. My problem is I find one way to do a thing and stop looking.

Sorry, its in the top left not the top right. Just a standard looking power button. I open the HVAC panel then hit that.

That is one of those screens that causes my eyes to glaze over when I open it. Reminds me of the climate control in an early 90s Audi.. Why do I need a skill set for my blower fan?

It could have been pulling cool air from outside. Was it cool outside?

I can feel and hear the compressor running. If you have the windows up and radio on you don't hear it. It is really obvious though when it is running.

It can also run to cool the battery pack.

How do you know the A/C was still on? Are you just going by air coming out of the vents or was it obviously chilled air?
Cause it is blowing obviously chilled air.

Not so much worried about energy draw. Sometimes I just prefer fresh air. Why put a button that says a/c that does nothing. I just think when a button is off it should be off. Why have a button that is on when off and on when on? Also sometimes like to turn a/c off mile or 2 b4 home to dry vents out.

the button clearly doesn't do nothing.

there have been very few if any cars made in the past 20+ years that didn't at least automatically turn on A/C when you select defrost, no matter what you have set. (you don't have to take my word for it : How Does a Defroster Work? | YourMechanic Advice)

on a normal day, you can turn the A/C on and off at will. there will be times though when the car will turn it on because you've told it to, you just didn't know you were telling it to.

There is small temp symbol to right of center (at bottom of main screen) that well take you to the climate screen.
