Estimated delivery date pushed back to 5 months later for my built mach e

My mach e was built on 4/22, shipped on 4/26 and was estimated to be delivered between 5/30-6/5

I just got an email:

Your vehicle’s previous estimated delivery range of May 30, 2021 and June 5, 2021 has been updated to between October 25, 2021 and October 31, 2021.

Seriously? Did anyone get a similar email?
How would it take 6 months to just ship and deliver an already build car?? Does this mean there is an issue with the car?
I don't think I gonna keep waiting if it really will take that long

My dealer told me the delay is because of the chip shortage

Update2:
I got an email that my vehicle had been delivered 6/7! So the delay email is actually non-sense and isn't helpful at all..
However, my dealer said my car is incoming and not there yet and they expect it to be there in a week or two. Is that normal?

I’m not sure exactly what prompted the email, but I’d hold out hope. There have been several instances where people received emails stating the car would be delayed, only to have it arrive a few days before the original delivery date.

I saw the delivery schedule bumped to 24+ weeks. I ended up calling 20 different Ford’s that had the car I wanted in stock (all had already sold the car before it even touched their lot except the last one I spoke with.) Was so happy to hear it was available. Flying one way and driving it back 8 hours on Friday. Much better than worrying for months about build schedules.

This might the effect of the chip shortage. At the beginning we believed the MME was immune to it but maybe not.

It could be built but maybe its not completed. There are a plethora of cars at many manufacturers lots waiting for chips, yours maybe one of them. I can't say for sure, it's just a hypothesis.

I got this email today. My car was built 5/22. Though it is the car I ordered. I since purchased a car off the lot but the order was never cancelled so its still coming in. I was kind of blown away. Wonder if it is from the chip shortage.

This is horrific. I am so sorry for you and praying I don’t get the same email soon. Supposed to take delivery in next 7 days and it was delivered to Kansas City on May 17th. I really don’t rate the tracker, it’s been awful for most. My dealer has been insistent that they don’t have more info than me but if it moves to October I may have to insist that they use this fabled vehicle visibility report

I haven't gotten the email and I hope I don't.

For reference, mine (Infinite Blue Premium X4) was built 5/15/21, shipped 5/16/21, arrived to Kansas City on 6/1/21. As of right now, I still have an ETA of between 6/18/21 and 6/24/21 per both shop.ford.com and the tracker on seg.fyi.
