Well if there is anything good about the delay you can now join the Mustang Club of America and get x-plan pricing. You will need the 90 day limit to get the benefit. Just trying to help.

Sorry, I probably wasn’t clear. I definitely sympathize with the frustration of orders being delayed. I’m just trying to give you guys some practical advice: you can be frustrated or you can do something about it.
No, I thought you were super clear. Just (to paraphrase) ā€˜stop whining about it and do what I did’ just isn’t helpful. I’m sure OP knows that option exists. Many can’t or don’t want to do what you did but you are far from the only one to have done it so yes, it’s an option.

I guess my only issue would be if it's pushed to October, that's into new model year production, well, in theory. If I get a very late year delivery, I'd hope Ford would consider a rebate or adjustment of price. I anticipated problems...so I still have my hybrid until beginning of next year.

My car is scheduled for delivery this week. No email yet. I hope Ford provides some clarification for the people getting emails about extensive delays.

I did notice yesterday Palsapp updated to show the destination ad my dealership, but this morning it reverted back to it's previous state showing the destination as "null." I am not sure what that's all about.

The build sometimes takes 8 days. Or your build took 8 days. I wouldn’t spout this if I were you. It gives a lot of people a timeline that they then get disappointed by when it’s not met.
Whatever. I don't work for Ford. Builds take about a week. Mine took 16 days.

I called my dealer, they told me the car is probably waiting for chip and because of chip shortage a lot of cars are now lining up waiting for chips.
He said they can still potentially get the car a lot sooner but ford is setting the expectation date late because of the risk of this chip issue.

sorry I forgot your timeline is the only one that matters. Great show of compassion.
Before you go getting all in a hissy fit, scroll up to the top of the page and read the thread title. That's what this is about. Nothing more. The comments on build times came because of a post about having the window sticker but not a built car.

The cars take about a week to build, whether you, me, or anyone else likes that fact or not. If they take longer, as virtually the entire 1/24 build week did, it's because of a problem at the factory. Those slowdowns are almost always related to the slow delivery of parts or absenteeism due to COVID illness outbreaks.

Bust strangely, you seem to want to withhold even the most basic information about the build process here. Sorry, but that cat is out of the bag. It's been on this website for well over 8 months.

And again, the thread is about the people who got a sudden 5-month bump in their shipping times on (wait for it) already built cars.

lol hissy fit. Yeah because you're "whatever" attitude is a ray of sunshine.
You berate me for disputing a timeline because its not related to the thread topic. I didn't bring it up pal.
What I take issue with is you spouting 'facts' like the fountain of knowledge that you are. As you clearly stated, you don't work for Ford. There's lots of new people on the forum now and lots will choose to take you at your word. All I was asking for was little bit of specificity with your response. Your build time is a useful data point, as is mine of production taking over two months. The usual YMMV I think is appropriate here is all, to mitigate disappointment when Ford fails its own timelines.

We just took delivery of a 2020 IONIQ Plug-in Hybrid that was built Nov 2020 and purchased by someone in New England late Jan 2021.. drove it south and traded it in.. I guess they got their REBATEs and then got same or better price from Carvana...

So we have a 7 month old w/ 7K miles on it.

Nice car for our Teenage girls to use back and forth to school.

FWIW Ford ordered the parts to build the MME’s long ago and should have them. They knew the amount they needed ahead of time. I’m doubting this date change is due to a shortage rather either a mistake or another stop ship. Dealer Vehicle visibility should give an idea where it’s at and if there is a stop ship in place.

Sorry, hang in there.
Umm, ordered is not the same as delivered. I ordered some pool paint and emptied my pool. After 7 weeks of waiting, I only had 1/3rd of the paint with no end in sight of 'backorder' for the rest. I had to fill up the pool painted only 1/3rd! Supply shortage is real. Govt. sending free money so no one has to go and produce something is hitting home hard.

The automakers got used to the 'just in time' inventory management. Now the shortages have turned them on their heads. Ford has said in its early May earnings call that this quarter is the worst and expects its production cut in half due to chip shortage. In the current situation, if you don't keep buffer for some delays, you are setting yourself up for disappointment and trouble. :)

Has there been anything further on this from Ford? Seems like that might be a good idea just about now...

This is what makes no sense. I ordered mine 6 days before you and my production date "was" 5/31/21. My best guess for delivery would be July; well before this morning's forum posts. :(
That's actually pretty close. Ford made it clear in the FAQs on the order page that they take a number of factors into account when scheduling builds (specifically, FAQ #11), so there is no expectation that orders will be built and delivered in the order that they are received.

"11. When will I take delivery of my vehicle?

Actual delivery times may vary based on vehicle model and configuration selected, residency & demand. Once your vehicle is scheduled, you will receive further notification."
