The Munro teardown videos have me puzzled about the complexity and number of components behind and under the frunk lining. What is all that stuff and what does it do? He pointed to each one and said a name, bit as many self-proclaimed gurus are fond of doing, didn't give any basics and used insider terminology.

So does anybody have a source for a schematic of the Mach E system with some explanation of component name and function?

More than 30 hose clamps on one vehicle! Whew!

Try these to start:

For the Bolt but very similar:

A lot of hose clamps on any vehicle. The key being the number and cost of the moving parts. Had my 06 Mustang for 14 years. Only cooling failure was a dribble leak from the thermostat housing the was two pieces of plastic sandwiched together. It lasted 12 years. New plastic replacement was $50. Cast and machined one part aluminum, $150. Never a clamp or hose failure.

I've watched it; other than the negative vibes from the headline, it was interesting to see the guts of the MMe below the Frunk. Four pumps and all those hoses conjure up fear of hose and pump repairs in your future; however, I suspect all those hoses are not under the same temp and pressure as in an ICE vehicle. It would have been better had Sandy explained more about what all those hoses do and the benefit they bring to the table. Perhaps one of the Ford engineers "in the know" could give us a little reassurance?

I'm thinking the tech on hoses and pumps have come a long way over the years and Ford has designed a system to maximize battery life and efficiency. I'm not going to bash Sandy, remember his favorable review of the MME underside.

Does anyone remember, early on, when Ford reps discussed cooling?

I have to say that YouTube video did scare me a bit but I'm still ordering. I just assumed the car would have simple engineering being and EV based on what I've heard in the past. I might purchase one of the discounted 8yr 100k miles warranty after watching the video. My insurance company GECIO will provide coverage for a nominal rate but the deductible is $250 each time. I can get a $0 or $50 deductible at good rate from the two dealerships mentioned on this forum.

I wouldn't let it scare you - the design IS simpler than an ICE motor - you have more coolant loops, but you don't have any oil or fuel distribution, no ignition system, no starter system, no manifolds or intake systems, etc. The net result is something simpler, but less familiar looking, so it comes across as more complex.

Keep in mind that the cooling system is quite different from an ICE cooling system. The MME's cooling system won't see pressures over 2 psi compared to an Ice's 12 to 16psi. It will also not see the high temperatures of an ICE's cooling system.

When I look at it I see a wide range of repair-ability/replace-ability of the critical parts by simply unclamping a few hoses at any point in the system.

To make a true comparison, open the hood of any current ICE car and count the hoses, pipes, pumps, sensors and connectors.
