I’m pretty pissed at Ford for putting the front license plate bracket on and putting 3 big holes in a $50k+ car. The dealer said they would give me bumper plugs, but for me that wasn’t really going to cut it. So now I’m filling the holes and painting.

First step, remove frunk and put tape behind the holes.

Second step fill the holes and sand

That’s all I was able to do today. I’m likely going to do a “grill” in the future so I’m not super worried about the top holes. But I want the bottom hole to disappear.

2 things.....I thought they were installed at the dealer. If so then your dealer did that during the PDI. Also there is someone who sells color matched plugs but you will need to search here for the thread with the link.

Yeah, the dealer installs the front license plate bracket. So that's where you should direct your feelings.

Cars made before April 22 were installed at the factory…. Thanks Ford. The plugs look ok but I want it to look smooth.

I’m also worried about this. Really sorry that happened to your car. I already called and spoke to the internet manager about it and he didn’t know whose job it is to put them on, which I find hard to believe? If he’s clueless, yikes, and if he knows why would he lie?

also the window sticker says front bracket - free so it makes it sound like it got shipped with it already installed.

literally every “luxury” car around here is front plate-less, so is it some kind of silent pact upscale brands have with dealerships? I wish Ford would take notice of the trend.

I am going to apply for the pilot program for the CA license plate wrap. I notified my dealer so that they won’t drill my bumper, but the internet sales guy insisted that the factory is installing them. I directed him to look at the forum, but he still insisted that it’s a factory install. Once I get a production notice I’m going to insist that he look here again and that he makes sure my bumper does not get drilled.

Man that’s a pretty awesome option for people that have to have them. I’ve seen a few come in over the past 2 weeks without them front plate brackets, I’m battling Ford right now because when I ordered the car nothing specified that there would be a bracket or holes. None of the literature showed a front bracket pre installed. I almost feel like Ford should be forced to fix this somehow especially for people in states that don’t require them. I was quoted $489 from the dealer suggested body shop to fix it because the dealer wasn’t confident that they could fix it themselves. This was after they told me they would fix it at dealer cost…

I could not agree more - pre vinyl wrap I did the same. Even after getting the frunk out I still had major issues getting to the rear of the bumper!

I used JB Weld - Plastic Weld, what did you use to patch?

My car was a demo in a state that required a front plate, so unfortunately, it had the bracket mounted. I ordered the plugs and when they arrived, removed the bracket and installed them. Easy enough and color matched perfectly.

I can live with it

My factory installed front license plate bracket had to be removed in order to install the PPF. We needed to replace the attachment pins for the bracket. The dealership refused to order/replace the pins/bracket.
The vinyl decal plate I had my PPF guy install is not illegal. Required front plate is there. Holes covered.
The beat goes on.

I was assured they would not install. They said it was CA legal to do so. Um... so who gets pulled over for it? Not the dealer? Who is the car titled to, not the dealer? Now I bought a black frame and may get black vanity plates when the 9 mos backlog let's up.
