- Mach-E GT (ordered)
Just a data point for anyone interested. When I first tried to convert my GT reservation over to an order (on 4/27), there was an issue with the site and the order was placed, but not connected to the reservation. Because of this, the recommendation was to create a 2nd order from the reservation, which converted fine the 2nd time. The "reservation-less" order was "1078xxxx", the "reservation order" was "1076xxxx". Both exactly the same car (color, options, etc). Also, this was passed on to the dealers:
For Mustang Mach-E GT Reservation customers: Some customers may believe that they can ensure an earlier build date by placing a new retail order and cancelling their reservation. This is not true. New retail GT orders will likely be scheduled into the ‘22MY. The best way for customers to get their vehicle as soon as possible is to follow the intended reservation-to-order process
This tells me that reservations should be ahead of new orders. Especially since the reservation number is tied to your actual order.
Both orders are still tied to my name on ford.com (so I can see status of both), but the dealer refunded the "reservation-less" $500 deposit.
The order tied to the reservation, got a build date of "Week of 8/29/2021" scheduled a couple weeks ago. The "reservation-less" order, just received a build date of "Week of 9/19/2021" last week.
So for what it's worth, 2 orders, same day, 1 with reservation, 1 without ended up with build dates about 3 weeks apart and the reservation one definitely had priority.
