Hey! I just came across the Alternative Fuel Infrastructure Tax Credit (US Code 30C) while looking at possible tax credits and rebates. It is a bit confusing but I wanted to see if anyone has taken advantage of this credit yet and if so, was it for residential purposes and did it cover the cost of the EVSE only or the installation of it as well? Thanks! (Apologies if this was already discussed in a separate thread. I did a search but found nothing.)

The tax credit for installation of the charger covers the wiring and installation and provides up to a 30% tax credit. If you just buy a charger, and don't install it, I don't believe you can claim the credit. Of course if you have a plug already, and buy the charger, you can claim 30% for the charger.

Thank you for the info. So as I understand it, in theory, if I buy a $600 EVSE and then pay an electrician $1500, under this credit I could get back $630 (600+1500 x .30). Is that correct?

Yes. Plus any rebate your utility company may provide.
