So I work from home. This means my car is in the garage while I work. Apparently at some point the fob in my pocket triggered my trunk to open.

some of you probably already know where this is going…

Ford Mustang Mach-E FML! Almost sick about it! CD6DEC75-3BC0-4A69-AD51-E48E06B32962

The trunk opened up against the backside of the garage door and I was left with this.

now I wait for the body shop to call and give me a quote on fixing it.

My wife on the other hand is finally able to drive my baby. She said given how much I baby this car she wasn’t gonna drive it until I got my first scratch on it.

learn from my experience and just park your car inside your living room and away from the garage door.

might not be a bad idea. I just wished PaaK always worked so I wouldn’t have to have the keys!

Happened to me right at the "ridge." A friend walked by the car and made the proximity sensor go off I guess? I was scrambling pressing all the buttons on the key and the trunk opened and hit the top of my garage. Luckily, it was just paint so it buffed out and only left 2 very, very small lines.

Ummmm.. There have been MANY people reporting their trunks opening up with no interaction from them what so ever. So its very possible that the trunk just opened up on its own, or maybe a rat ran across your garage floor and set it off.

Pretty shitty given this issue seems to be a flaw in the build and is costing people $1,000 bucks to fix...

First thing I did when I got mine was set the trunk open to a position lower than the highest so it won't hit my garage door. To do so, open the trunk and when it reaches your desired height, hit the button on the inside. That will set it at the new open distance.

Down side -- it's lower than it probably should be, so I've hit my head on it a couple of times while loading or unloading stuff...it's not crazy low, but it's low enough that I'm not used to it yet.

I have had 100% PAAK... as long as I 'force stop' it after I park, and fire it back up on approach. It takes about 20 seconds to wake up and re-connect, and usually I can time it so it sees me coming!

My Fob is wrapped in tinfoil.... hidden inside the car just in case.

I feel for the OP....

First thing I did as well. Now I’m curious, has this ever happened to people when the garage door is closed?

for those who don’t know how to adjust the opening: put the lift gate at the height you want it to always open to, then hold the power close button on the lift gate till you hear it beep.

In the past (for my Edge) I used a piece of insulation foam for an a/c line and I hot glued it to the support bar across the inside of the garage door where the hatch would hit the garage door. Just in case the door would come up and hit it. Apparently the hatch door on the MME opens higher than the other Fords. Don't have my MME yet so this is not tested. Thoughts ?

I did the same at our old house. Used a foam fun noodle because my wife’s car at the time would hit if it opens all the way.

You would need two. One at the bottom when the garage door is open and one in the middle for when it’s closed.

Or You could wait for Ford could fix the issue…………. Better get four fun noodles.
