Picked up my GTPE on 10/22, drove less than 10 times and less than 270 miles on the odometer. Went to drive today and boom hit with the error.

The steering wheel is crazy tight so clearly the power steering is gone. Made an appointment with the dealership for Thursday. They don’t have loaners and who knows how long it’ll sit waiting for a part.

For reals?
Amazing how many problems that have been mentioned in these threads go away with simply turning the car off and waiting and turning it on. Why not a problem linked to charging level?

I turned it on and off a few times and the error still shows up. Haven’t tried the charging. Guess it isn’t a bad thing to have the error show when it gets to the dealer. Sounds like this has happened before so if the part is faulty I rather get it replace. I’ll keep this thread update so it can be a reference point since we are all beta testers lol

Sorry for your loss, you'll probably need a new PSCM. Multiple topics on this happening.

PSCM = Power Steering Control Module? I did a quick search and couldn’t find that acronym easily.

Yes, sorry it's the power steering motor. It's behind the dash. So power steering is inoperative.

Hi Ron! Could you please send us a PM with your VIN and current mileage? I'd like to look into this issue with your Mach-E on my end.

I wonder how many of these are related to communication problems as a result of a low 12v battery?

So far it is good that Ford would likely get involved, my worry is that individual dealerships haven’t seen enough of these in their service department to get a good diagnosis or be able to trace to a larger problem. I think my dealership is the first or second in Mach E volume in the state but it didn’t sound like a lot of Mach Es have been in for repairs yet.

This is an easy diagnosis for the dealer. They'll see the code, call the hotline, hotline will say replace the power steering motor. The question is if they can get one. This has been a decently common issue (all things considered).

No offense but the Ford account you PMd will be pretty much useless for this problem and tell you to go to a dealer to get it fixed...

I am taking it to a dealer and am fully prepared the response will be a delay in receiving parts for repair. The whole point of contacting Ford and getting a case opened is in the event the dealership service isn’t prepared to handle the situation due to the newness of these cars (there have been examples on here) that there is a second point of contact to escalate. Others have had success getting Ford involved in getting parts sooner, couldn’t hurt to try.

Sounds like there may be a TSB with just an update needed for your car.
