Got the down arrow on the display again and pressed update as soon as I pulled into the garage. Unfortunately it seems the third time is still not a chime for my MME. It downloaded 4GB pretty quick and then stopped, just like the second time.
i find it interesting that you’re able to get it to download over WiFi, there’s a user on here who is adamant that there isn’t a WiFi path for updates yet, are we sure that data is an update?

As soon as I pressed update, I logged on to my router to check the traffic. Yes it definitely downloaded at least a portion of it from wifi.

I edited my post above - third time is a chime, it installed successfully! I remember from the other 1.7.1 thread that the download is about 8GB. First time it failed it downloaded 5GB, second time was 4GB, and just now 4GB again.

Yeah nice, glad that user was wrong. I luckily didn’t have any issues, knock on wood.

I think it's been 5 weeks since the first incomplete 1.7.1 update attempt, until today the third time with the successful installation. It's a week since @Ford Motor Company contacted me over PM and opened a case for me. Not sure if they did something on their end that made it happen. Either way, I'm glad that they're actively involved on the forum. Those of you who are still stuck may want to PM FoMoCo here.

Also, the release notes now displays Ford(TM) in superscript properly and of course no longer gets cut off at "yo".

That’s interesting cause mine still says Up To Date but all the new stuff is there and working and I got all the Successful install messages on the app and the car. Just saw release notes in the app.

Let me know how it goes! My new APIM module hasn't arrived yet, so if this works with your dealership, I will make sure to let mine know. Is there any reason why ford wants them to use such large memory cards when the updates are only a few GB? Is it due to an the files having to be uncompressed during installation or something?

I'm also curious to know what kind of memory card Ford suggests using. If it's a regular USB 3 64gb thumb stick, I may just go buy a good one myself and give to the dealership to use if that will make it easier and therefore get my car back to me sooner.
The update continues to fail. Ford did a full master reset and all attempts to update the APIM has failed so now a new one is finally being ordered.

It's clear Ford is trying to figure out a fix without replacing the APIM. Our Mach-E was the 2nd one to have this failure at my dealer and with the 1st car in for this issue Ford also attempted various fixes before replacing the APIM. Replacing the APIM is apparently the only fix at this point though.

My advice to anyone thinking about going to their dealer is to wait!

We are picking the Mach-E up today and will bring it back when they have the replacement APIM in stock.

Yes, no more Chinese character.

The third time I received the notification was just like the second time - it appeared briefly, and disappeared after I shutoff the car since I was out when it appeared. Two days later it reappeared. I made sure to press update as soon as I pulled into the garage without shutting off the car.

Now that 1.7.1 is properly installed, I can toggle auto update again and it'll stay on, but the update notification option is gone. I left auto update off.

In the FP app if you go to software updates it says "Connect your vehicle to your go-to trusted Wi-Fi networks, like home or work, and you'll get updates as soon as they are available"

Glad to hear yours was fixed. Mine, of course, is not  I don't get any "yo", chinese characters, (TM), or an updater. Still at "Your system is up to date"

Same here. "Your system is up to date." Except its not. Last I've heard since the software update error message on November 24th.

FWIW mine updated successfully last week and mine still says System Up To Date. The sync version changed though.

Well, my car is finally at the body shop, having the tail light replaced from the unwarranted parking bollard assault earlier this fall. I did play around with the URL posted in this thread: https://www.macheforum.com/site/threads/ota-status-hidden-in-the-ford-website.12367/ and got some interesting information. It looks like it may have tried to get most of the way through 1.7.1?

So, reading that Mach-e updates while you are driving (which I find weird, honestly), how long do you have to drive in order for the update to complete? Is my problem that since the pandemic started, I've mostly only taken my car out for short drives not long enough to update?

What if I left it "ON" in my garage for a few hours? How long is long enough?

Maybe take it for a nice 2 hour drive on the weekend.
