Just an update that I have checked the car again today after clearing DTCs and it continues to throw this error. I'm going in tomorrow for the windshield recall and will try one more time to resolve it and will otherwise let the techs know.
Thanks. Not sure how much help the dealer will be if it’s not causing any problems beyond the DTC. But it sure would be nice to get it resolved before the BlueCruise update tries to use that connection to the IPMA.

Looking at the WSM, it's triggered when the IPMA sends faulty information to the GWM, so I'm going to try resetting the IPMA and see if that makes a difference even though IPMA says everything is OK.

Interesting. Let us know how it goes.

I decided to do nothing. There's a ton of sections for IPMA and they'll be messing with that as part of my windshield recall.

ABS is also still in updates. I did notice the last time I installed it was that while it was running I had an update on the center screen that said "Vehicle Communication Error." I don't know if that's linked somehow to the current error or just a coincidence.

I'll print out the last self-test and give it to them. At least they'll know that I'm capable of reviewing the vehicle history and that I can find out what they do or don't do to it.

From what I've seen, it's pretty common to get those types of errors on the center screen during updates as modules lose connectivity with each other. I've also seen it say "Hardware Error". But after the updates, a Sync reboot and clear of the DTCs makes everything happy again. At least it did before this IPMA Ethernet error in the GWM.

So I have a Job 1 car, they replaced my IPC right after I got the car for buzzing (didn't fix it even though they said production cars didn't have the problem anymore). Since then my IPC has been bugged, the "engage" drive mode energy bar was always there, along with a host of other bugs.

I've taken my car in 3 times now for them to collect data from the vehicle. Today I got a call and the Ford Engineers finally figured out my issue and had the dealer rerun the PMI module install.

Their final self test showed the same error:
Ethernet Failure With Image Processing Module "A" (IPMA)

I obviously don't have BlueCruise yet, but the assisted driving I do have still seems to work fine. I've let the engineers know, so hopefully I hear back and can let everyone else know of a solution, but do we seem to know if this breaks anything? Or just let it be?

I hope there's a fix discovered to this by the engineers. My windshield recall work keeps getting pushed back (now next Tuesday) but I'm hoping that when they have to do the IPMA portion of the work, it might reveal something. I'm also taking in a printout of my last self-test so they have that going in.

I checked mine too last night, with the J2534 device plugged in, all the updates other than the persistent ABS went away. I now show the GWM dtc in my history, but all dtc's clear to a green board. Interestingly, one dtc was complaining the steering wheel camera did not have a clear view of the driver. I'm Job 1 (FE, dec 2020 build), no BC yet, so that one is odd.

SSM 50385: Driver Monitoring Camera Blockage Message And/Or DTCs B115E:97, B15E1:97, B15E2:97
hmm, interesting - To correct the condition, place the steering wheel in the center position so that the driver status monitor camera is visible. Connect the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) and clear the DTCs. Turn the ignition off and wait 10 seconds. Turn the ignition on and wait 1 minute. Using the FDRS, perform the CMR self-test to confirm the codes are cleared.

I found this while Googling items related to the error code and saw this for the F-150:
https://ford.oemdtc.com/7486/errone...gwm-after-gwm-software-update-2021-ford-f-150

Some 2021 F-150 vehicles may exhibit an erroneous diagnostic trouble code (DTC) U2404:92 stored in the gateway module (GWM) after an over the air (OTA) update was performed or the GWM software was updated using the Ford Diagnosis And Repair System (FDRS). This may be due to various software parameters within the GWM. If this DTC is identified during normal diagnostics, but the vehicle does not exhibit any customer concerns around the GWM operation, this DTC should be disregarded. This DTC does not cause any observable concerns or warning messages and does not affect vehicle performance or durability. Ford is developing a software update which will be delivered to the vehicle via an over-the-air (OTA) GWM update in December 2021 to prevent this DTC from setting erroneously.
