TDLR: 4 months into ownership of a 2021 mache awd, second time it has left me stranded and needed a tow to the dealership.

First time was one week after taking delivery. A fault with a charging component in the car resulted in needing a tow from the charge station to the dealership. Lost the car for about a week on that one.
It wasn't too bad as although I did not have enough battery to get to the dealership I did have enough to stow the car in a safe location while waiting for a tow.

Last night was not as pleasant. Temperature was roughly -20 C. While on my way back from work, the instrument cluster displayed a stop immediately warning and then cycled through a series of error messages. I pulled over on the shoulder and came to a stop. I don't recall putting it in park but I guess I did. Problem was I was now kind of straddling the shoulder line and when I tried to reengage drive to push off to the side a little further the dial was locked. Turned the car on and off a few times but to no avail. I also was not able to put it in Neutral to push it off to the side.
So wound up stuck straddling the shoulder line in the dark on a very busy road waiting for a towing.

I wonder if anybody here has had similar faults and then gone on to a subsequent trouble free experience because right now I have more or less lost confidence in the car. I certainly won't be taking it on extended drives when I get it back. My wife has no confidence at all and refuses to use it on the 10 minute drive to get to town from now on.

Don't know if it is purely coincidental but this happen about 3 days after recieving the 1.4.0 update.

Sorry to hear this. I hope they DO find something because my VW ID.4 electrically shutdown like you described (a flood of errors - only a week after ownership) and the dealer found zero error codes so my trust in it evaporated. It didn't matter I never saw it again in 2000+ miles... it could happen again.

Hope they can find out what's going on for you. Document everything. Save all service paperwork. You'll need it should this end in a lemon law case. I've been down that road years ago and it's not pleasant. Best to be prepared just in case.

Although I don't think I am at the lemon law point yet, unlike the U.S. , here in Canada we have no such provision in our laws so when you wind up with a lemon in this country you are pretty much on your own and at the mercy of how accommodating (or not) your dealership is.

Got my car back, apparently the problem was solved through reprogramming only, which makes me wonder why it took a month to get it back (granted some of that month was through the Christmas-new years break). Unfortunately now the heater does not work and the unit that needs replacement is not available, dealer is unable to give a date as to when the unit will be delivered....could be a week could be six months he said shrugging. So now it is -20 degrees and I am driving to work in a car without heat with an ice scraper in my hand to scrape away the inside of the windshield so I can see the road.
I think I am done with this car...

I love my MME, but if I had the issues you've had, I'd probably be done with it as well. I'm sorry you're having these issues.

Sounds like @Ford Motor Company needs to look into this one.
This was my thought as I first read of the problem….
should be able to open a “Problem Case number”, with the dealer, and also with FMC ! Bill Pitman, still waiting on my Mach e, since April 27,2021…., confidence is waning thou…., Ford & Ford customer service need to get their shit together!

Big hats off to my Ford dealership. They will replace my defective Mache E Premium with a new one.
They offered the choice of a full reimbursement or the new car.
It is this kind of service and support that had me leaning towards Ford rather than a Tesla and I am very happy that things went the way the did.
My confidence is restored.
I like the car enough that I am willing to try a second time.
Fingers crossed that things go better with this one.

Wow! That restores my faith that corporations sometimes do the right thing. I would have expected delay, repair, dead car, delay, repair, etc., until you have to get the dealers GM or someone from Ford involved to resolve the 6 months of on going issues.

That is great that they are getting you a replacement MME. My question, only out of curiosity, is do you have to wait another 6 months for them to build you another car?
