When I first got the car I was determined to use 1Pedal since it was the cool new thing for EVs and so many people spoke so highly of it. Well after almost 3 weeks I decided to try going back to non 1Pedal because there were certain things I just wasn't getting used to.

But now I feel like I've lost some of my non 1Pedal skills. I used to be a pretty good driver. Now I feel like I'm in driver's ed again.

I'm too much in my head now. Anyone else go through something similar?
Lol yep, almost yeeted my wife’s ioniq into the neighbors yard when backing out of the driveway

I put my car in 1PD before I drove it off the lot and haven't ever disabled it since. The Mach-E is the first car I've ever had that offered it, but I find it incredibly intuitive and have never wanted to disable it.

I love that everyone has different opinions and our cars give so many choices that everyone can find their favorite way to drive it.
Exactly. I really appreciate how Ford gives us both options. I’ve got a Rivian on order (if you think wait times and communication are bad with the Mach E, you should see Rivian!) and it requires 1PD. There’s literally no way, at least right now, to turn it off. Might end up being a dealbreaker since I can’t stand the 1PD on the Mach E. Interesting concept, and definitely gives the feel of engine braking in unbridled.

You really gotta get the feathering down, I’ve got it now where the brake lights hardly ever turn on when I’m slowing down, unless coming to a stop of course

Like riding a bike for me. When MME went into shop I borrowed a 6-speed and had lots of fun with it but took a day or so to really get a touch back after not driving manual as a daily driver in a long time. Reverse was true after 6 weeks... driving the MME 1-pedal and all its features took a couple of drives to 'unlearn' driving the hot hatch and get used to the weight and handling difference. BTW, when my GF drives the MME (not often) it's in 2-pedal engaged. We're close, but I have some limits on the 1-pedal unbridled :)

I drove hybrids for the past 18 years, and there is a certain feeling you develop with the accelerator pedal looking for that sweet spot that keeps the ICE from engaging. I think that experience makes 1PD an easier transition.

I love 1PD in Whisper mode, without any fake engine sounds, because that is what I love about this vehicle, it is very quiet, like a whisper. The 1PD reduces stress for me because I only occasionally need to use the brake pedal.

When I want to take my foot off of the accelerator, I put the car in standard following mode, no lane centering or driver assist. When I approach an intersection with a changing light, I have learned to seamlessly release the follow mode, while gently applying pressure to the accelerator and then letting up slowly as I approach stopping or stopped traffic. I tried lane centering and driver assist, and found them to be more stressful than without, except on long highway trips.

When I drive my other hybrid car now, the first few stops I am sometimes surprised that the car does not slow down as quickly without applying the brakes.

Overall, 1PD is much less stressful for me.

Love 1PD...........I drove the wifes F150 the other day and had to remind myself to use the brake pedal to stop.....super annoying. LOL
I love the challenge of trying to pick the exact moment to lift off to glide to a complete stop at a light/sign without having to use any extra brake/accel to nail it. I've gotten pretty good.

One thing I'd really love is an icon on the dash somewhere that indicates when the brake lights are actually engaging with 1PD because it's not super obvious to me unless it's dark and I'm looking in my mirrors. They turn out to be a little more aggressive on the lights than I expected.

I gotta say, I absolutely love 1PD. I turned it on during my test drive before delivery and I haven't turned it off since. Once you get the feel for how to feather the pedal, it's more accurate and precise to me than using both pedals to do the same job. I'll underestimate once in a while, or a heavy load in the back will change the braking dynamics and catch me off guard, but if I tap the brakes twice in a week, I'd be surprised.

Does it feel like driving a golf cart? Yes. Is driving a golf cart fun? Also yes. Is driving a golf cart with a thousand times more power a thousand times more fun? Again, yes.

Some like it, some don't. I never wanted a high speed golf cart, so tried it and that was that.
We use golf carts at work and that’s exactly how I describe it to people I work with. I’m getting better at 1 pedal, but it’s still an adjustment. I like it for traffic on the highway. I’m still a little awkward on stops.

Im used to engine braking from riding motorcycles and slowing down through the gears instead of all brake. Im also used to switching cars so my brain adjusts pretty much without thinking.

Pulling into parking spots with 1PD was kinda cumbersome at first but not I don’t even think about it. I did just notice that backing up a steep driveway slowly and releasing the pedal won’t cause it to stop rightaway. It kinda just slowly creeps up. Seemed kinda weird. I only get the clunk when stoping and taking off right away, I solved that by going back to ā€œCaliforniaā€ stops, or as I call them regular stops lol.

Why does it matter? Brake lights when your slowing down isn’t a bad thing. Who cares if people think you’re driving with two feet lol.
