It appears that Ford needs to push 6 PowerUps beyond 2.4.1 to enable BlueCruise. For the EA VIP group, they managed, at best, 1 PowerUp per day.
What do people think the odds are that anyone else in EA will get BlueCruise by March 31 (there are only 14 days left)?
I’m thinking that Ford will need to take some time to look at their experience with the EA VIP group before they do anything further, so maybe further EA deployments in early-mid April, depending on what they learn from the EA VIP group and what adjustments need to be made (for “agile” fans here, I believe the typical duration of a sprint is 2 weeks, so you might want to take that into account when trying to speculate ?)

There are a minimum of 7 updates needed. Not all cars use the same software (it varies based on options ... e.g. AWD vs. RWD, SR vs. ER, etc.) and I've heard some cars may need as many as 9 updates.

After I got 2.5.2, I got the notice that I had BlueCruise -- in the FordPass Message Center you'll get a notice titled "Your Ford BlueCruise feature is ready."

However, while driving today (and using BlueCruise) I got another update and the car is now at 2.5.3 (so that's 8 updates for me so far.)

I may have lost count but I think just three of the updates required that the car not be running to apply. Two of them took about 30 minutes. One of them listed 145 minutes but was done in about 75 minutes.

But this is great news for the rest of the Job 1 cars.

I wouldn't expect to see all Job 1 cars *completed* by 3/31 ... but possibly they start rolling the updates by then.

I'm also encouraged by the pace of these updates. Initially it was about 2 updates per week ... but this week there have been 4 updates in rapid-fire succession. It seems like they're getting pretty good at pushing these out. So maybe that says something about the pace that the rest of the Job 1 cars might expect.

19 days left in March by my count. If you're going by accounting periods the quarter doesn't end for 21 days.

I am confused. Two updates make your car unusable for 30 min each and a third for over an hour? How is that great news for Job 1 cars?

Ford originally said we can use our cars while the updates install in the background and then the next time we start the car it switches over to the new software seamlessly.

Prior to placing my order for the MME, I scheduled to test drive the Tesla Model Y and when we walked out to the car it wouldn't work because it was updating. They put us in a M3 instead which isn't really the same thing. Even then, we had to wait quite a while before the MY was ready to drive.

So then I researched the Ford product and found multiple instances where they stated every module is updatable over the air and we would never be without the use of our car while it was updating itself. Those features was a selling point for me so I am saddened to know the vehicle doesn't function as expected.

Still like the car but just a bit disappointed in the apparent disconnect between marketing and engineering.

But don't forgot, they are about to lose 1 hour here... Not quite enough time once you account for that.

Not counting weekends (I doubt they want to push software updates on weekends) and no, not going by accounting periods, going by 32 March.

I'm pretty sure that Ford said early on that only some (not all) updates can be performed in the background. I do not have automatic updates set on. I only let it update when I'm home for the night and have no super critical plans for the next morning. So far I've had zero problems with OTA updates, have not experienced any inconvenience. Right now my biggest issue is how do I test BlueCruise, since I get on the freeway so rarely.

Once the update is queued for installing on your car, you get to decide WHEN it happens. Just schedule it for some time when you can't possibly imagine you'd need it ... like 3am.

If you've seen the normal update icon (looks like the tray with the checkmark) ... you'll get a similar icon except it will have a bell. Tap it and you'll get a choice do it immediately ... or scheduled (in which case the bell turns into a clock icon). It will tell you how long it expects to take (in minutes) and what time it expects the update will be completed.

It's really no inconvenience at all. Every other update happened while I was driving.

My update that finally activated BlueCruise got pushed to me last night (weekend).

The great news is that we're getting updates that were originally expected in Q1 2021. Some of the blocking, unexpected issues are finally resolved by engineering. We're getting back on track, and it's picking up pace.

Ford originally said we can use our cars while the updates install in the background and then the next time we start the car it switches over to the new software seamlessly.
For many modules this is true... ABA swap. For some, as you've already posted from the service manual around a year ago, an erase and rewrite is required and that can't be safely done while driving.

Prior to placing my order for the MME, I scheduled to test drive the Tesla Model Y and when we walked out to the car it wouldn't work because it was updating.
Should you ever change your mind about OTA updates, you will want to set the schedule to times your car is not required. I scheduled mine for 3:10am.

I expect Tesla has a similar scheduling function but who knows how that test drive vehicle was configured and by whom.

Taking my car offline for 30 minutes while I sleep is still far more convenient and far less stressful than dropping it off at a car dealership for hours on end.

Still like the car but just a bit disappointed in the apparent disconnect between marketing and engineering.
Disappointing, yes!! But surprising, I think to no one.

Some F150s in the BC OTA queue also right? How are they doing?

The 2.5.2 update is the one that activated BlueCruise. Interestingly the notes in the update itself don't mention that ... but then I received a notice in the FordPass Message Center shortly thereafter that it was active (and it is ... I drove using it today).

ALSO...

While driving around today, 2.5.3 installed. It just says "Minor adjustments to help you enjoy the journey ahead. Ongoing updates like this help you enjoy the best possible version of your Mustang Mach-E vehicle."

So that means I've technically received 8 updates so far.
